A total of 24 Universitas Indonesia (UI) students received financial support from OK Bank Indonesia, through OK Bae & Jung Scholarship Program. The scholarship was symbolically awarded in early December 2021, in Meeting Room A, 2nd Floor, UI Rectorate Building. Each scholarship recipient would receive financial support of 10 million rupiah.

The scholarship was presented by Park Yong Man, the President Director of OK Bank Indonesia, to UI’s Director of Student Affairs, Badrul Munir, Ph.D. In his speech, Badrul said that this scholarship is very helpful for students.

“Some of these scholarship recipients come from lower-middle class families and need additional costs to meet their college needs. With this scholarship, it is hoped that students, especially scholarship recipients, can concentrate on their studies and can increase their non-academic competencies. Thank you very much to OK Bank Indonesia for this scholarship,” he said.

On the same occasion, Park Yong Man, said that this scholarship is not given arbitrarily. There are certain requirements given to prospective recipients so that a student can obtain the scholarship.

“This scholarship is intended for students who have good academic grades but have limitations in meeting tuition fees. Besides in Indonesia, we also provide scholarships for students in several countries such as the United States and China. We hope that the recipients of this scholarship can continue their studies and aspirations well,” said Park in his speech.

The event continued with the awarding of certificates for representatives of scholarship recipients and short speeches from several scholarship recipients. Rahmah Sekar, one of the scholarship recipients from Faculty of Humanities, expressed her gratitude for being one of the recipients of OK Bae & Jung Scholarship.

“I didn’t expect to receive this scholarship because honestly I never thought about applying for a scholarship before. Korean culture is wonderful, and it matches with my study program which is (Indonesian) History Studies. I hope I can learn a lot from Korean culture with this scholarship,” said Sekar.

OK Bank Indonesia was established in 1990 with the initial name of PT Liman International Bank. Since its merger with Bank Dinar which was under PT Liman International Bank, the name change was made to PT Bank Oke Indonesia Tbk in 2019. The Bae & Jung Scholarships Program is one of the programs of PT Bank Oke Indonesia Tbk in the context of community service through providing scholarships for outstanding students at all universities in Indonesia.
