Minister of Ireland Invited UI Students to Study at European Union

On Thursday, March 3 rd 2017, Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia (FHUI) greeted

delegation entourage from Ireland at Multimedia S&T Room of FHUI, Kampus UI Depok.

This visit were also attended by Head of UI International Office, Prof. Melda Kamil Ariadno,

S.H., LL.M, Ph.D., and student representations of all faculty in UI.

In his speech, Dean of FHUI, Prof. Dr. Topo Santoso, S.H., M.H., hoped that this visit

would generate academic cooperation, such as student exchange and scholarship for UI

students.

Meanhwile, Minister of State for Justice and Equality Ireland, H.E. Mr. David Stanton TD,

on the occasion explained about academic condition in Ireland. Ireland is a country with

rapid progress.

In 1973, Ireland was one of the poorest country in European Union with less natural

resources. Ireland then joined in world trade and invited foreign investor.

To be able to compete in world trade, Ireland needed human resources with skill and high

educational background. By those reason, Ireland prioritized education in order to

generate rapid improvement so that Ireland could be a country with highest income per

capita in European Union.

Besides, Ireland was very opened for international students and newcomers who wanted

to collaborate and develop innovation and creativity in the academic field.

At the end of speech session, H.E. Mr. David Stanton TD invited UI students to continue

their study to Ireland. This invitation were greeted enthusiastically by students who were

actively asked several questions about universities in Ireland.
