12 acedemicians of Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia (FHUI) attended as panelists in
Asian Law Institute (ASLI) Conference on May 18 th to 19 th at Novotel Manila hotel, Quezon
City, Philippines.
The 12 academicians were Akhmad Budi Cahyono, Andri Gunawan Wibisana, Aristo M. A.
Pangaribuan, Fully Handayani Ridwan, Miftahul Huda, Nathalina Naibaho, Rafiqa Qurrata
A’yun, Rouli Anita Velentina, and Yetty Komalasari Dewi.
There were also law doctoral students who were also participated, they were Edita Elda
and Maya Shafira.
With “A Uniting Force? – ‘Asian Values’ and the Law” theme, this conference aimed for
seeking similarity pattern of Asia's institutional law system management.
Asia Countries tend to has similarity pattern in social and political ethics that gives more
values on collective and social order.
This is different from the law value system that is developing in European countries that
gives more priority to individual freedom.
These values could be formed as law unification points by Asian countries.
ASLI is an organization that collaborate and encourage excellence of research and law
teaching in Asia.
The 14 th ASLI conference met 194 academicians and researchers in law field in Asia and
several countries to exchange knowledge.
