Universitas Indonesia (UI) regained their title to be the top university in Indonesia in
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking 2017/2018 version that was
released on June 8 th 2017.
UI is on 277 th place in the world, where last year was on 325 th place by the same ranking.
With this achievement, UI successfully maintains its position as the top university in
Indonesia for 6 consecutive years in QS ranking version.
This year, UI has significant improvement in “International Faculty” indicator that measures
number of foreign lecturer in a university.
Another significant improvement is on “Academic Reputation” indicator and “Employer
Reputation” indicator.
Based on survey that has be done by QS team to company leaders, UI graduates
considered competent, innovative and effective in working and implements their
knowledge.
QS World University is universities world ranking that is conducted by Quacquarelli
Symonds (QS), The British Company that is engaged in educational sector.
This ranking is one of the most referenced ranking, along with Academic Ranking of World
Universities and Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
QS is also an official ranking that is referenced by Ministry of Research Technology and
Higher Education to measure institutional quality of Indonesian university to be world class
university.
This year, QS has measured performance and ranked more than 959 universities in 84
countries.
QS uses six indicators in measuring ranking, that are Academic reputation (40%) that
measures overall academic factor and Employer reputation (10%).
Next, faculty/student ration (20%) to measure learning activity supporting compenent in
university, such as number of lecturer versus number of students.
After that, Citation per Faculty (20%) that measure number of citation, number of scientific
publication and research impact that is generated by university's civitas academica for
society.
Lastly, International faculty (5%) indicator and international student (5%) indicator that
measure number of foreign students in faculty or university.
