Student of Universitas Indonesia (UI) recurred an international achievement. On HydroContest 2017 that was held on St Tropez Perancis, Hydromodeling Technology and Workshop (HTW) team of Faculty of Engineering UI successfully grabbed Best Heavy Mass Transport Innovation Prize and the 4th place on Heavyweight Boat.
This is also the best achievement that has been reached by Indonesia during the two period of participating in HydroContest. The competition that was titled “Carry More, Faster with Less Energy” was an international competition that is participated by 23 teams of engineering students from 14 countries.
The competition required participants to design a boat that is able to hold on 20 kg (lightweight) and 200 kg (heavyweight) loads with energy efficiency and high speed. Besides UI, the other participants from Indonesia was Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember.
Besides heavyweight boat, the team that is consisted of six persons also passed the quarter-final stage on lightweight boat category. This competition was the second time of UI participation in HydroContest competition that was held by Hydros Foundation Swiss, after the same competition in 2016 in Lausanne.
Before departing, the 14 persons team worked on designing Symmetric Catamaran boat type for lightweight category and Flat Plate boat type for heavyweight category.
