The Number of Isolated Patients Declines, Wisma Makara UI Will Be Reopened to the Public

Wisma Makara Universitas Indonesia (UI), which was previously used as a place for recovery or self-isolation for Covid-19 patients in Depok City, has now been officially closed (Tuesday, 19/10). The ceremony of closing and releasing the health workers at this independent quarantine site for Depok City, Wisma Makara UI, was conducted by Mayor of Depok Dr. K.H. Mohammad Idris, M.A.

Director of Emergency Resources Support of National Disaster Management Authority Rustian, S.Sc., Apt., M.Kes; Director of UI Business Unit Management and Development Dr. drg. Nia Ayu Ismaniati, MDSc, SpOrt(k); Head of Depok Health Office Drs. Supian Suri, MM.; Head of Depok Fire and Rescue Service Drs. Raden Gandara Budiana; and Head of Special Work Unit for Community Service (UKKPPM) of Makara Hospitality Management (MHM) in Wisma Makara UI Erick A. Soyer, CHA. The closure of this self-quarantine area is related to the declining number of Covid-19 isolated patients in Depok since August 2021.

This closure is in accordance with instructions from the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Self-Quarantine Place of Depok City. Then sterilization and cleaning will be carried out at Wisma Makara for 4 (four) days after closing. Wisma Makara is planned to reopen to the public on October 20, 2021.

In his welcoming speech, Mohammad Idris said that in the last three days there had been no additional cases at all, zero cases. “With this closure, it is a sign that there are zero cases here. Yet, we have not closed the Center for Japanese Studies UI. There are 32 beds there as anticipation. I hope they are not used eventually,” he said. Idris expressed his gratitude to all parties who had participated, including the management of Wisma Makara and UI Hospital, for their extraordinary support. “It’s really a struggle to make this location a self-quarantine place for Depok residents. But what makes us proud is that Wisma Makara UI was declared the best place for self-isolation in West Java by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil,” he said.

“My remark to Depok residents is that currently Indonesia has not had zero cases of Covid-19. Java and Bali Islands still have Covid-19 cases and conduct PPKM (Implementation of Restrictions on Social Activities) Level 3. Depok has only been declared level 2 along with other cities throughout Greater Jakarta this week in the Minister of Home Affairs Instruction (Inmendagri). Yet, keep vigilant. Don’t be easily influenced by social media, by things that happen outside Depok City or outside Indonesia, which will affect our attitude here. For those who pray at mosques, keep your distance. This is also applied in places where activities are busy, and there are crowds to take part in PPKM,” he said.

Meanwhile, Erick A. Soyer said, “The last isolated patient of Covid-19 at Wisma Makara UI checked out on September 22 2021. Previously, Wisma Makara had prepared a capacity of 120 beds for asymptomatic isolated Covid-19 patients, which has been prioritized for people whose identity card is based on Depok City since November 2020. This effort was carried out as support for the government’s program to accelerate the handling of Covid-19, especially in Depok.”

Erick explained the sterilization and cleaning process, which is currently being cleaned. The first process is disinfectant. The second one is repairing the damaged rooms. “Then waiting for a reference from the Health Office that Wisma Makara is suitable for public use and will be checked again by them. After receiving a letter from the Health Office, we will reopen Wisma Makara to the public. Yet, the main thing is sterilization, which is disinfecting, infecting every room, every corner, and in all buildings. Then all of that will be inspected again by the Health Office team,” he explained. The conversion of the function of UI Student Dormitory to a place of self-isolation for Covid-19 patients in the category of no clinical symptoms and mild symptoms began on July 9 2021.

Wisma Makara UI is an accommodation and conference room owned by UI. Wisma Makara UI is managed by the Special Work Unit for Community Service (UKKPPM) of Makara Hospitality Management (MHM), under the supervision of the Directorate of UI Business Units Management and Development (DPPU UI). Wisma Makara UI, which is located in the north of UI Urban Forest area of UI Depok campus, provides a three-star lodging facility. Wisma Makara UI building consists of four floors with a total of 67 rooms.
