UI and Kendal Regency Government Develop 4 Pillars of Economic Development

ADVANCING REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT, UI AND KENDAL REGENCY GOVERNMENT DEVELOP FOUR PILLARS OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Through various programs and innovations, Universitas Indonesia (UI) has proven its strong commitment to advancing regional development in Indonesia. One of the contributions made was through a working visit of the Academic Senate UI in collaboration with the Kendal Regency Government, Central Java Province, to develop the four pillars of economic development, on Thursday (26/01).

Vice Chancellor for Human Resources (HR) and Assets UI Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA. said, “Previously, we have worked with Central Java Provincial Government in terms of human resource development and other programs at UI. Our purpose in inviting Kendal Regency Government to this cooperation is for contributing to the development of Kendal Regency Government.”

He added, UI is ready to develop human resources and policies related to the workforce, in the fields of culture, health, or other programs based on restoration and innovation that have been developed by lecturers at UI. In addition, this collaboration will become UI’s concrete program in realizing Kendal Regency Government to become a regency that has noble characteristics and culture, as well as making it an industrial and tourism center that is sovereign, just, and highly competitive. Kendal must also be innovation oriented towards a democratic and transparent government.

As a strategic area for investment, Regent of Kendal Dico M. Ganinduto, B.Sc. explained, in order to absorb labor, the regional government has made a breakthrough using Kendal Karir application. “We focus on the four pillars of development, which are the pillars of industry, tourism, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and generation 4.0. We hope that with these four pillars, growth in Kendal Regency can really have a significant impact on the development of Kendal Regency, which also improves the welfare of Kendal people,” said Dico.

He continued, the existence of the MSME pillar could improve quality and become a driving force for the economy of the people in Kendal Regency. Moreover, considering that so far all efforts have been made so that MSME products can penetrate foreign markets.

In addition, Kendal Regency, which already has Kendal Industrial Area, is expected to be able to provide a multiplier effect for the people of Kendal, so later it can maximize economic growth. “By looking at the four pillars of Kendal Regency, UI is ready to work together to encourage progress in Kendal through the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education in order to make Kendal an excellent industrial and tourism center and have good human resources,” said Prof. Dedi.

On the same occasion, Director of Kendal Industrial Area Didik Purbadi, S.Si, M.B.A was also present. He said he was very glad about the visit made by Universitas Indonesia. This visit is expected to establish ongoing communication between the two parties. Prof. Dedi was present with 60 other people from UI with the aim of exchanging experiences with the industry.
