Contribution to the Alma mater, ILUNI FEUI 83 Provides an Ambulance for UI

Universitas Indonesia (UI) received an ambulance from the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Indonesia (ILUNI FEUI) Batch 83 (Saturday, 02/25). The ambulance was handed over from Head of FEUI 83 Kepi Kurniati to UI Rector Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., in the series of FEUI 83 Golf Tournament event, at Sedayu Indah Golf, PIK 2.

On that occasion, Prof. Ari expressed his appreciation for the donation from FEUI 83 because it showed alumni support for UI development. According to Prof. Ari, this shows that higher education at a university cannot separate itself from its environment. Therefore, various collaborations, such as triple helix, pentahelix, and multihelix must be carried out.

“Such collaborations actually have been done for a long time abroad. I once visited the Yale School of Management and entered a room with a corner area filled with named chairs. I asked, ‘Why do the chairs have names on them?’. They answered, ‘This is a form of a donation from the alumni’. They wanted to donate, but because all the rooms had been named out of their contribution, their next donation was chairs. Then if the rooms have already been filled with named seats, they still have pens to name,'” said Prof. Ari, sharing his experience.

This situation became a new idea for Prof. Ari for showing the role and contribution of alumni to the university even though they have long graduated from campus. “I congratulate FEUI 83 for strengthening relationship for the past 40 years. Hopefully, what has been given by the alumni can be useful for UI, especially in managing health on the UI Campus,” said Prof. Ari, closing his remarks.

The ambulance unit received by UI is a form of giving back from FEUI 83. This was conveyed by Kepi in a short interview. According to her, efforts to continuously contribute to the campus and society have been carried out through several activities, such as handing over building rooms for FEUI, reunion activities, and donations for disaster victims in Cianjur.

“Actually, there are a lot of things that we want to donate to the alma mater. Finally, it was sparked to our mind that we wanted to provide an ambulance because there are not many who provided it, and it turned out that UI also needed it. In addition to providing ambulance units, there are plans to have 40 activities ahead of 40 years of ILUNI FEUI 83 friendship. We hope that we can always participate and contribute to our beloved alma mater so that this activity is not merely a reunion gathering but can also provide something useful for UI and the community,” said Kepi.

This year’s FEUI 83 Golf Tournament is the second event after the previous one in 2018. The tournament which was open to the public was also attended by Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs UI Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris and Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets UI Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA; and attended by Director of Graduate Career Development and Alumni Relations UI Ir. Ahmad Syafiq, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Head of Technical Implementation Unit for Campus Environmental Security Ach. Mukhtarul Huda, S.H.I., S.H., M.Si.
