Depok, July 20th 2023. Universitas Indonesia welcomed a visit from a delegation from Griffith University, Queensland, Australia, on Tuesday (18/7). The two educational institutions had previously had an MOU since 1994, and on the occasion of the visit Griffith University intended to expand the area of cooperation with UI.
Previously, the scope of collaboration between UI and Griffith included academic collaboration programs, joint programs, and professional short courses. In addition, collaboration with Griffith University at the faculty level was also carried out, such as the Sustainable Development and Climate Change program with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), the Joint Alumni Development Program with the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), and the Development Health City collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine back in 2015.
According to drg. Baiduri, there are two types of cooperation that can be developed, namely academic cooperation and research cooperation. “For academic cooperation, it is usually about mobility, namely student mobility and staff mobility. For student mobility, the cooperation will be in the form of Double Degree and Short Course programs, while for staff mobility, it will be in the form of joint courses between two or more institutions,” he said. He hoped that this partnership can expand the scope of collaboration that might be developed for the benefit of both universities and the wider community, such as environmental preservation.
Meanwhile, Rick Chapman appreciated the collaboration that has been established with UI and agrees with drg. Baiduri to expand the existing cooperation. “UI and Griffith University have had a long-term cooperative relationship. We also work closely together in a number of areas, particularly in environmental protection and climate change which are so important nowadays. Therefore, we are happy to be here and able to discuss other areas of collaboration that can be mutually beneficial,” said Rick Chapman.
