Depok, September 4th 2023. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agreed upon by 193 member countries at the UN General Assembly in September 2015 are to formulate a universal agenda which serves as a common goal for countries in the world in 2030. The implementation of SDGs in Indonesia is also integrated with the implementation of development at the central and regional levels, namely in the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and the Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD).
“Every year, UI gets scores and rankings for all SDGs activities that have been carried out and academic activities at the university to be used as a reference for calculating university rankings in the world. UI routinely submits data every year that is needed by The Times Higher Education for this assessment. Currently UI is ranked 20th out of 1591 institutions in the world,” said Assoc. Prof. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Ph.D., Lecturer at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA) Universitas Indonesia (UI) when receiving a visit from De La Salle University.
Prof. Vishnu explained that the way UI maintains the SDG THE ranking every year is by monitoring and evaluating activities that are initiated periodically. FIA UI has human resources who specifically take care of the implementation of the SDGs so they can focus on monitoring the data needed for rankings every year.
In agreement with Prof. Vishnu, Secretary of the FIA UI Postgraduate Program, Dr. phil. Reza Fathurrahman, MPP., said that UI’s overall performance score was 94.4 out of 100. UI’s three best SDGs in 2023 are No Poverty, Zero Hunger, and Good Health and Wellbeing. Several concrete efforts by FIA UI to support the implementation of goal number one of SDG No Poverty, including holding mini workshops and assisting the Depok Small and Medium Industries (IKM); financial, intellectual and social assistance to improve the financial management of Depok MSMEs; and assistance of business feasibility studies for Bumdes Megamendung Jaya.
Not only that, in goal number two of SDG Zero Hunger, FIA UI also sorts food waste; FIA UI has a canteen that can be visited by staff, students and faculty visitors where there are various kinds of food and drinks; and also provides a clean, cool, and comfortable canteen. FIA UI also strives to organize activities related to goal number three of SDG Good Health and Wellbeing, namely implementing a Sejiwa program (healthy body and soul) consisting of badminton, yoga and gymnastics for the entire community; collaborating with PT Teduh Karya Asia to help manage the mental health of academics; and organizes various seminar programs for mental health.
De La Salle University visited FIA UI to discuss the implementation and application of SDGs in the campus environment. Catherine Samaniego as one of the representatives from De La Salle University stated that De La Salle University carries out various programs and methods to realize SDGs on campus, such as a project to fight plastic pollution; development of a permeable reactive barrier; conduct geopolymer research; intelligent structural health monitoring; and machine learning to analyze PISA data; a systems mapping approach to exploring workplace health issues; and others.
The location of the De La Salle University campus in the heart of Manila is home to local and international students who are looking for quality education for a brighter future. De La Salle University also has cultural diversity, making it a dynamic and diverse campus.
Head of the FIA UI Public Policy and Governance Masters Program (MKPG), Dr. Teguh Kurniawan, also welcomed the presence of De La Salle University representatives at FIA UI. In his welcoming speech, Dr. Teguh also introduced the FIA UI’s MKPG program which is a master program that has just been opened by the FIA in 2023. “MKPG itself is a program that has a vision to produce graduates who have competence as public policy analysts and public sector governance. The MKPG program will equip students with a multidisciplinary and practical perspective with a research-based learning approach,” he said while attending this visit in the Smartclass Room, Building M FIA UI, Floor 3, UI Depok campus, (28/08).
