Depok, October 13th 2023. Universitas Indonesia (UI) through the Career Development Center (CDC) under the Directorate of Graduate Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) in collaboration with KarirLab holds the main event of UI Career, Internship, Scholarship & Entrepreneurship (CISE) Expo 2023 This routine event—twice a year—which is being held for the 36th time, involves hundreds of partners, ranging from corporate partners, scholarship partners, entrepreneurship partners, media partners, to universities. The main event which takes place on 13th–14th of October 2023 is held at the UI Depok Campus Hall and broadcasted live via uicise.karirlab.co.
Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Hj. Ida Fauziyah, M.Si., who was present virtually at the event, expressed her appreciation for holding the UI CISE Expo 2023. According to her, holding a job fair like UI CISE is very beneficial, especially for the Indonesian people who will enter the peak of the demographic bonus in the 2030s. Factors such as education, employment and entrepreneurship need to be considered in utilizing the demographic bonus to increase Indonesia’s economic growth.
“UI CISE Expo 2023 makes a real contribution to creating opportunities for workers to get jobs. Moreover, this event not only features a job fair exhibition, but also talk shows and career counseling, internship, and scholarship opportunities, as well as efforts to encourage entrepreneurship. All of this will help in creating superior quality human resources (HR) equipped with knowledge about the world of work, and for companies, they can get candidates who are suitable for the positions offered,” said Minister Ida.
The main event of UI CISE Expo 2023 presents various activities, such as Career Exhibition, Scholarship Exhibition, Entrepreneurship Exhibition, Career Seminar, Exclusive Company Session, and Live Resume Builder. At the exhibition, visitors can access the virtual booths of various company partners, institutions and startups or visit them directly at the UI Depok Campus Hall. Visitors can also take part in a Career Seminar presented by experts or representatives from companies participating in the UI CISE Expo 2023.
Apart from that, visitors can also take part in special sessions from companies that hold exclusive company sessions, namely sharing sessions between companies and limited participants in a special room. This session aims to build engagement between companies and invited participants. Apart from that, mentors from the KarirLab Team will provide guidance to participants on compiling a good, internationally standardized resume with an ATS-Friendly CV, which is a CV format designed to pass the Applicant Tracking System selection.
UI Vice Rector for Human Resources and Assets, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA, said that the aim of holding the UI CISE Expo 2023 was to facilitate students and graduates with various career opportunities. Participants will be provided with preparations for entering the world of work, information on scholarships to continue their studies, as well as opportunities to build entrepreneurship, thus they are expected to be able to explore career opportunities and gain valuable insights for the future.
“Through this career fair, UI is committed to preparing students to be successful in their careers and contribute positively to society and the alma mater. “This activity is not just a provision for finding work, but also about how graduates can build relationships, share knowledge, and explore mutual potential,” said Prof. Dedi.
Meanwhile, Karirlab Co-Founder, Stephanus Wicardo, said that the uicise.karirlab.co platform, a collaboration between UI and KarirLab, is a Career Management Platform which was built as a supporting platform for universities to prepare students for their careers. This technology platform will connect company partners to obtain talented and qualified young talents who graduate from UI.
“Since its opening on September 25th 2023, uicise.karirlab.co, which was built together with UI, has posted 300 job vacancies from various company partners spread across five islands in Indonesia. The number of visitors to date has reached half a million people and it will still be open until next week. We are optimistic that this collaboration can prioritize young Indonesian talents so they are able to compete not only at the local and global level, but also internationally,” said Stephanus.
Before the main event, UI CISE Expo 2023 with the theme “Prepare Your Remarkable Future Career, Right Now!” has held a series of pre-events which have been held online since September 25th 2023. During the pre-event, 54 webinars were held regarding work preparation or scholarships. Some of them are UI CISE Resume Workshop, UI CISE Training, UI CISE Company & Scholarship Talk, and Business Plan Competition: Pitch@CISE. The webinar can still be accessed via the DPKHA-UI YouTube account. Access to uicise.karirlab.co will be open until October 20 2023.
