Universitas Indonesia (UI) has established its position as the best in Indonesia for five consecutive years based on the assessment of the QS Asia University Rankings (QS AUR) 2025. At the Asian level, UI’s position rose two ranks, from 48 to 46. UI’s total score is 74.7 out of 984 universities from 25 countries. This was announced at the QS Asia Pacific Summit 2024 at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) on November 6, 2024 at 17:00 WIB. The UI delegation also attended the event, led by the Head of the UI Transformation, Risk Management, and Monitoring Evaluation (TREM) Bureau, Vishnu Juwono.
The international ranking agency QS AUR 2025 uses four main criteria in the assessment, namely Research and Discovery, Employability and Outcomes, Learning Experience, and Global Engagement. UI recorded the highest scores on the Inbound Exchange Students (100.0), Outbound Exchange Students (100.0), International Faculty Ratio (98.8), and Employer Reputation (98.0) indicators. Overall, UI experienced an increase in scores in almost all assessment indicators. UI also experienced an increase in ranking on seven indicators, namely Inbound Exchange Students, Employer Reputation, International Faculty Ratio, Academic Reputation, Faculty Student Ratio, International Student Ratio, and International Research Network.
UI Rector, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., expressed appreciation for this achievement. “For five consecutive years, UI has maintained its position 1 in Indonesia and continues to improve in Asia. This certainly requires hard work from the entire UI academic community. We continue to expand our global reach, in addition to improving the quality of education, producing impactful research, and developing collaborative networks with various partners from within and outside the country. Hopefully, this achievement can continue to be improved, so that UI can become one of the best universities in Asia,” said Prof. Ari.
Meanwhile, Vishnu Juwono, Head of the UI TREM Bureau, in addition to leading the UI delegation in Macau, also delivered a presentation titled “Environment, Sustainable and Governance (ESG) Universities in Southeast Asian Universities: Challenges and Collaborative Solutions.” Vishnu said, “UI’s achievement in QS AUR 2025 by continuing to excel at the national level and improving at the Asian level, lays a strong foundation for the next UI leadership to be able to improve the quality of educational activities, community service, and publications in the university environment. UI’s overall performance improvement can be seen in the increase in rankings in various international rankings, including the QS Asia University Rankings,” he said.
With this achievement, UI is optimistic that it can continue the positive trend in various world rankings, as well as become a leading educational center in the Asian region.
