Depok, May 28th 2023. UIopendays is an annual event at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) which aims to provide information regarding educational programs at UI. This activity, which has been carried out since 2013, has presented 14 faculties, 1 vocational education program and 2 interdisciplinary schools. Taking place at the Balairung for the open booth and the UI Depok campus Convention Center for the presentation of the International Class program, this activity lasted 2 days, on May 27thth and 28 2023.
The series of UIopendays 2023 activities included presentations and QnA session with speakers as well as consultations regarding the choice of majors and future careers. UIopendays 2023 also presented a campus tour session which provides an opportunity for visitors to go around the UI campus using the campus’ yellow buses (bikun). Besides that, there was also a booth that provided official UI merchandise.
This event was carried out by the UI Public Relations Bureau and Public Information Disclosure and was the first to be held face-to-face since the Covid-19 pandemic. “During the pandemic, we continued to carry out UIopendays online,” said the Head of the UI Public Relations Bureau and Public Information Disclosure , Dra. Amelita Lusia, M.Si in her speech. This activity aims to provide detailed information about the UI admission path. “Enjoy this day, ask as clearly as you can to the seniors in the booth. I hope those who attend today can be accepted as UI students,” said Amelita encouraging the visitors.
UI University Secretary, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., also said that this event was an opportunity for high school/equivalent students, parents, and teachers to find out as much information about UI as possible. “To teachers, school principals, we specifically thank you for paying attention to this activity and for accompanying your children at a significant time in their lives for the future,” continued dr. Augustine.
One of the students’ parents stated that they knew about UIopendays2023 through their daughter. They fully support their daughter’s wish to take part in the UIopendays 2023 and also assists and enjoys the UI campus environment directly. Their daughter also stated that she got a lot of information that she couldn’t get from the internet alone. By communicating directly with active students, she got a comprehensive picture of how to get into the faculty, how life is in the faculty, and what activities she can participate in.
Indri, a class XII high school student from Tangerang, expressed her happiness at being able to take part in this activity. “I am happy to be in the UI campus area. Through the campus tour sessions, I am happy to be able to see my dream faculty in person,” she said.
During these 2 days, UIopendays 2023 was attended by more than 13,600 visitors who did not only come from the Greater Jakarta area and its surroundings, but even from outside Java, such as the city of Medan. This activity can also be watched via streaming on the UI and UI TV YouTube channels.
