Depok, July 28th 2023. Universitas Indonesia (UI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Bayan Resources, Tbk. in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program Cooperation and Cooperation in the Three Principles of Higher Education, on Thursday (27/7), at the Fairmont Hotel Jakarta. In addition to the Memorandum of Understanding, the two parties also signed a Cooperation Agreement regarding the “Bayan Peduli” Education Scholarship Program. The signing procession was attended by the Vice-Rector for Human Resources (HR) and UI Assets, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA; President Director of PT Bayan Resources, Tbk, Dato’ DR Low Tuck Kwong; as well as officials from both parties.
During the occasion, Prof. Dedi said that the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement would strengthen their shared commitment in increasing access and quality of education. In addition, this will be the foundation for ongoing collaboration and have a positive impact on scholarship recipients at the university.
He said, “This collaboration shows PT Bayan Resources, Tbk’s great concern for the development of human resources in Indonesia since one of its programs is a scholarship for students. We will direct the Bayan Peduli scholarship assistance for bright students who have limited funds. In the future, we hope that this collaboration can be increased, not only in the form of scholarships, but also community service activities (social development) whose impact can be directly felt by the community.”
Meanwhile, Commissioner of PT Bayan Resources, Tbk, Prof. Dr. H. Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara, said that the presence of Bayan Peduli—which is the broad umbrella for the CSR program of PT Bayan Resources, Tbk—is to provide educational opportunities for students who are financially less well off. “We believe that every individual has the right to access quality education regardless of economic background. With that spirit, we will provide educational scholarships to students who have the potential to become agents of positive change for Indonesia,” said Prof. Moermahadi.
This full scholarship will be given to new students of the Undergraduate Program (S-1) for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This scholarship is prioritized for several study programs, including the Law Study Program, Faculty of Law; Computer Science and Information Systems study program at the Faculty of Computer Science; Public Health Science study program, Faculty of Public Health; Management and Accounting study program at the Faculty of Economics & Business; as well as International Relations study program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.
Apart from UI, PT Bayan Resources, Tbk also signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement with seven other higher education institutions. The seven universities are the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), National Development University (UPN) of Veteran Jakarta, Yogyakarta State University (UNY), and Polytechnic Energy and Mining Bandung (PEP).
The Head of the Human Resources Development Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Prahoro Yulijanto Nurtjahyo, appreciated the program that will be carried out by PT Bayan Resources, Tbk together with eight selected universities. According to him, PT Bayan is one of the companies that continues to play an active role in responding to various challenges that exist today. He hoped that this collaboration will not end at the university, but can be expanded further.
