Disabled-Friendly Facilities for UTBK participants at Universitas Indonesia

One of the admission paths for the Bachelor’s program at the Universitas Indonesia in 2023 is through the Test-Based Written Examination for National Test-Based Selection (UTBK SNBT). SNBT is implemented by each State University under the coordination of the National Selection Team for New Student Admissions (SNPMB) which is the only organizer of standardized university entrance tests under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

Universitas Indonesia also facilitates people with disabilities to take part in the UTBK SNBT 2023 implementation. A total of 77 participants with disabilities, of which 10 participants are blind, took part in the UTBK implementation which is located in Lab 1105, Old Building of Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom) Universitas Indonesia. Universitas Indonesia Executive Officers provide special facilities for blind participants in the form of a different application, namely Non Visual Desktop Access (NVDA). This application is a reader application that allows blind people to use computers and listen to exam questions, and is equipped with headsets and ringlets which are writing tools for disabled participants.

Person in Charge of the Fasilkom UI Old Building Location, Maya Retno Ayu Setyautami also explained that during the exam, participants with disabilities were accompanied by two staff who were ready to help if there were technical problems during the exam. They also provide assistance if participants with disabilities have needs outside the room, such as going to the toilet, having complaints of illness, or other things.

Universitas Indonesia is also preparing the best experts in the field of technology and information systems to fully support the 2023 UTBK SNBT activities.
