Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (FHUI), Dr. Edmon Makarim, S.Kom., S.H., LL.M., was elected as the head of the Cooperation Agency (BKS) of the Dean of the Faculty of Law, State Universities (PTN) in Indonesia for the period 2022-2024. Dr. Edmon was elected at the National Working Meeting of BKS Deans of PTNs throughout Indonesia which was held at the Aston Sentul Hotel, Bogor, on March 29, 2022.
BKS-FH State Universities in Indonesia is a forum for collaboration with the Faculty of Law of State Universities in Indonesia which is focused on developing legal education standards in Indonesia. The thing that becomes routine in holding this activity is the development of a legal science curriculum so that it is adaptive to the dynamics of society and development.
The legal education curriculum is being adjusted to the government’s policy of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) as contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No. 3 of 2020 concerning National Standards for Higher Education.
Dr. Edmon was elected as Chairman of the BKS Dean of FH in Indonesia replacing Prof. Dr. Farida Patittingi, S.H., M.Hum., from Hassanudin University, Makassar, South Sulawesi. Prof. Farida has served as the head of the Dean of Faculty of Law in Indonesia since 2018. This is the second time that Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia (FHUI) has hosted the BKS National Meeting since the management of Prof. Farida Patittingi.
“This is a trust. I will continue to communicate before making a decision to the western BKS, the central BKS, and the eastern BKS. I thank you for the trust,” said the Dean of Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia (FHUI), Dr. Edmon in his opening speech.
As Chairman of the BKS Dean of Faculty of Law in Indonesia, Dr. Edmon, who has legal expertise in Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE), has a vision and mission, which is to return the country to a state of law. His desire to make the law not as commander, but king. Edmond hopes that the next generation of law faculty will excel.
The Dean of Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia was elected as Chairman based on a vote and won the most votes. Prof. Farida as the former Head of BKS Faculty of Law congratulated Dr. Edmon for being elected as Chairman of BKS Faculty of Law throughout Indonesia. This National Meeting was attended by 43 registered State Universities (PTN) in Indonesia consisting of the Dean, Deputy Dean, and Chair of the Indonesian State University Faculty of Law Study Program.
