Faculty of Dentistry UI (FKG UI) successfully broke Museum Rekor Indonesia (MURI) Record for the most child’s molars pit and fissure sealants in Indonesia on Sunday, March 20th 2016 at Gigi dan Mulut Hospital of FKG UI, Salemba.
The certificate handover event was attended by Dr. drg. Yosi Kusuma Eriwati, M.Si (Dean of FKG UI), Jaya Suparna (MURI Chairman), also Aylawati Sarwono (Director of MURI).
The record breaking was reached after molars pit and fissure sealants for 844 children is being closed after 2 hours.
This event involved 224 dentists from alumni and student of FKG UI specialist program that was divided into several shift hours.
Before the event was held, selection process and dental and oral education event had been held at 8 elementary school around UI Salemba, that is SD Kenari I-VI, and SD Kwitang I-II.
The purpose of the event was to improve people awareness on dental health and oral hygiene.
Pit and fissure is a dental condition that shows cavity and indentation, especially on the chewing surface of molar that is placed on the back of mouth.
The existence of the cavity causes plaque and food particle accumulation at the inside of it.
Pit and fissure sealants is a coating procedure on chewing surface of teeth in order to prevent cavity and dental caries.
“By this event, people will be more aware to do dental and oral inspection periodically and also maintain their health as early as possible,” said Public Relation of FKG UI, drg. Melissa Adiatman, Ph.D.
