FIA UI and PT INASIA Collaborate in the Insurance Sector

ENHANCING HR IN THE INSURANCE SECTOR, FIA UI AND PT INASIA SIGNED A COOPERATION AGREEMENT

One of the main factors needed to strengthen the performance of the insurance industry is improving the quality of human resources (HR). HR is one of the keys to progress in the insurance sector and the financial industry. Currently, Indonesia still lacks human resources with competence in the economic, financial, as well as the Islamic finance industry.

Responding to this condition, the Risk Governance Center (RGC) Research Cluster, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI) signed a cooperation agreement with PT Astha Aptana Mulia (INASIA). The agreement was made in terms of HR development in the field of insurance. This agreement aims to improve the quality and quantity of human resources and build high integrity, which is currently needed by the insurance industry in all parts of the world.

“Insurance science has existed at Universitas Indonesia since the 1960s. With the current development of the insurance sector which is dominated by multinational companies, it is necessary to have synergy between institutions to maximize the existing potential. In collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Insurance Management Experts (AAMAI) and INASIA, which is a non-formal educational institution in the field of insurance, FIA UI through RGC hopes that this can become a motor to drive the potential of human resources in the insurance field in Indonesia. Moreover, the number of insurance policyholders in Indonesia is one of the largest in Asia,” said Dean of FIA UI Prof. Dr. Chandra Wijaya, M.Si., M.M.

Michael Sinaga as the company secretary of INASIA said that INASIA wants to improve the quality of human resources in the insurance industry by providing talent with high qualifications and integrity according to the needs of the insurance industry. He said that improving the quality of human resources would also have implications for increasing the development of the insurance industry in Indonesia.

“The number of AAMAI members who have done certification has reached 9,737 people, but only 3,000 are actively implementing insurance science. We realize that it is necessary and important to manage the potential of human resources in the insurance sector so that the insurance market can be maximized by national companies,” said Head of the Life Insurance Competency Standards Development Division of AAMAI Dr. Prihantoro, MBA, AAIJ, AMRP, CPIE, QIP.

The Risk Governance Center (RGC) is a sub-business unit under the Institute for the Assessment and Application of Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (LPPIA FIA UI). LPPIA is a Special Work Unit for Research and Community Service (UKK PPM) under FIA UI. RGC carries out organizational activities specifically in the field of insurance. Thus, in order to improve the competence of human resources in Indonesia related to insurance, RGC collaborates with various partners including AAMAI and INASIA.

AAMAI is an insurance management association that has been established since 1992 with a total of 9,737 members. Meanwhile, INASIA is a non-formal educational institution in the field of insurance that organizes insurance lessons for practitioners both offline and online.
