Holding Charity Golf 2023 for The Second Time, FKG UI Supports Improvement of Educational Facilities at Salemba Campus

Depok, October 27th 2023. Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Universitas Indonesia (UI) continues to strengthen collaboration with various partners and stakeholders through various academic and non-academic related events. After being successfully held last year, FKG UI held “Charity Golf FKG UI 2023” for the second time at Damai Indah Golf, Pantai Indah Kapuk.

This golf tournament was held to commemorate the 63rd Anniversary as well as a forum for gathering between community, alumni, extended family as well as partners and stakeholders. This activity also aimed to support FKG UI’s plans to rejuvenate the educational infrastructure at the Salemba Campus, including the addition of a Dental Unit, repair of the phantom (a prop in the form of an artificial human tooth consisting of the upper and lower jaw, gums and complete teeth) as a means for students to do practicums.

Vice Rector for Academic & Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. Nat. Abdul Haris, M.Sc. appreciated FKG UI for successfully holding Charity Golf. This is proof of FKG UI’s commitment to strengthening networks with all partners and stakeholders. “There is great hope that in the future, the event can continue to be improved so that the efforts that will be made to rejuvenate FKG UI’s educational facilities can be realized well,” said Prof. Haris.

On this occasion, Prof. Haris also said that thanks to the spirit of moving forward together, UI’s reputation at the international level continues to skyrocket. “The greater strength and power in building networks at both national and international levels also has a big impact on UI’s reputation. Thank God, it has been proven that, thanks to the hard work and support of all parties, UI is currently the only university in Indonesia that is in the Top 1000 of the World’s Best in the World University Rankings 2024. UI is ranked 801–1000 according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) 2024 and ranked 237th in the World QSWorld University Ranking 2024”

Meanwhile, the Dean of FKG UI Dr. drg. Nia Ayu Ismaniati, MDSc., Sp.Ort(K) said that the charity activity which was held on Saturday (21/10) was initiated as a concrete effort by FKG UI to embrace all parties who have the same goal, namely advancing FKG UI from the aspect of infrastructure. “Thank you to the sponsors and donors who have contributed and participated in supporting FKG UI, this will surely have an impact on the quality of graduates becoming increasingly superior and highly competent.”

Dr. Nia said there were 25 sponsors from alumni, UI community, agencies and companies as well as 2 private donors, the contributions received were in cash or in the form of educational scholarships. The commitment and trust of sponsors and donors who have provided support from the community, alumni, and various agencies are very important for the progress of an educational institution. Not only from a financial perspective, but also as a form of appreciation for the quality of education provided by FKG UI.

The Dean also mentioned that one of the utilizations of the 2022 Charity Golf results included the purchase of 5 Dental Units, the creation of 1 Smart Classroom and the creation of educational clinic expansion plans with a total cost of around IDR 2 billion. This year, the charity funds obtained will be used to rejuvenate educational facilities such as phantom repairs for students, adding smart classrooms to support digitization. Meanwhile, the scholarship scheme provided by sponsors this year will later be used to help undergraduate (S1) students who are in need of help for education costs..

The 2023 FKG UI Charity Golf was attended by 120 participants. The series of events opened with the beating of a smoke ball by Plt. Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.Eng.; Vice Rector for Academic & Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. Nat. Abdul Haris, M.Sc.; Vice Rector for Research & Innovation, drg. Nurtami, Sp.OF (K); Vice Rector for Human Resources (HR) and Assets, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA; Dean of FKG UI, Dr. drg. Nia Ayu Ismaniati, MDSc., Sp. Ort(K); and the Board of Commissioners of Hermina Hospital, Cyril Noerhadi.

The announcement of the winners and drawing of door prizes was the highlight of the event that participants were looking forward to. From the results of the competition, the main winner, namely Best Gross Overall, was achieved by Ato Z and Best Net Overall was achieved by Hasanuddin. Meanwhile, the grand lucky winner of 1 unit of ALVA electric motorbike was drg. Mirza. Apart from announcing the main winner, other categories were also announced, namely Ladies Flight, Best Net (Men) Flight A, B & C, Nearest to the pin, Longest Drive & Nearest to the line. Congratulations to the participants who won this tournament.

The main prize for Hole in One is 1 unit of Hyundai Ionic 5 from MR. DIY, 1 Unit Nissan Leaf from Rooseno Oktroi Bureau, Cash worth 200 Million from MR. DIY, Museum and 100 Million Rupiah from Cemara 6 Gallery. However, unfortunately in this tournament, no participant was lucky enough to get a hole in one.
