Depok, August 22nd, 2023. One of the efforts to support an entrepreneurial university, Universitas Indonesia (UI) has made the entrepreneurship program one of the focuses in improving the quality of graduates. The goal is to be able to obtain or create decent work. This effort is realized through Universitas Indonesia’s Wirausaha Merdeka (WMK) Wira-Cipta entrepreneurial program which was launched on Monday (21/8), at Balai Purnomo Prawiro, UI Depok Campus.

The WMK Wira-Cipta UI program is designed to prepare university graduates who have a mature, creative, and competitive entrepreneurial mindset and competence in the world of work. Graduates of this program are expected to be equipped to develop innovative and creative business ideas based on problem-solution oriented and to be able to build start-ups according to business principles that are sustainable and have an impact on society.

At the grand launching of WMK Wira-Cipta UI 2023, UI Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, said that one of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) programs is the Independent Entrepreneurship program. This program, which has been done since 2022, is a flagship program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristekdikti) which can be converted into 20 college credits.

“This year, Kemdikbudristekdikti has again trusted UI as the executor of the Independent Entrepreneurial MBKM program called Wira-Cipta Universitas Indonesia. This program was attended by 231 participants from 44 universities. Most of the participants came from UI, namely 80 people, while the rest, namely 151 participants, were students from other higher education institutions throughout Indonesia,” said Prof. Haris.

All participants in the WMK Wira-Cipta UI 2023 program are divided into 46 business groups that will take part in various series of activities from September to October 2023. These activities are Outdoor Outbound, E-Camp Series, Independent Assignments, DPL Mentoring, Business Practitioner Mentoring, MOOCs LMS-IDOLS UI, SME’s Onboarding Program (Startup Apprentice / UKM), Bootcamp Kick Off & Final, and Demoday. All learning materials will be provided through public lectures, assistance classes, mentoring sessions, and independent sessions.

According to UI Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp,OF(K), in addition to supporting the achievement of UI’s Key Performance Indicator (KPI), the Independent Entrepreneurial program is also important in building an entrepreneurship learning ecosystem.

“At UI, most faculties already have entrepreneurship courses, innovation courses, and similar courses. This shows that the MBKM WMK Wira-Cipta UI program is in line with the entrepreneurship curriculum at UI and has a great opportunity to be converted into several courses. I hope that by holding this program, all participating students can benefit as much as possible,” said drg. Nurtami.

Implementation of the WMK Wira-Cipta UI 2023 program will involve collaboration with Teaching Practitioner partners, Field Assistant Lecturers, and UKM/Startup partners. Teaching Practitioners are CEOs/Founders/representatives of growing businesses/startups in Indonesia, such as Kitabisa, eFishery, Dreamdelion, FLIP, Founderplus, Maxima Indonesia, Badr Interactive, Sahabat Bisnis, and Quipper. Meanwhile, Field Assistant Lecturers are teachers from UI, Jakarta State University, Gunadarma University, Trisaksi STMK, Creative Polymedia, and Pancasila University.
