More Information About Scholarships, UI Involves Hundreds of Scholarship Partners

Universitas Indonesia (UI) once again held the annual UI Scholarship Day 2024 event to provide the widest possible information regarding scholarship opportunities for undergraduate, vocational, and postgraduate students at UI. The event, which took place in the Central Lower Area, UI Student Activity Center (Pusgiwa), on October 29-31, involving scholarship partners, was attended by hundreds of students. In addition to the scholarship exhibition, the event also included a talk show session on tips for obtaining scholarships and financial management for the younger generation.

Acting Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA, said that this activity was the second after being held last year. This year, eleven scholarship partners attended in person with hundreds of scholarships. “We are grateful for the trust of more than 100 scholarship partners every year, both from the government, private sector, and domestic and foreign partners, who provide scholarships for our students. Of course, this scholarship is an important source of assistance for UI students to ease their study costs,” said Prof. Dedi.

In the event, UI involved previous scholarship recipients to provide information about scholarships and provide consultation sessions for participants. Representatives from scholarship providers were also present to assist students in the registration process. In addition to the scholarship booth, UI provided a booth to assist in the account registration process for recipients of Kartu Indonesia Pintar-Kuliah (KIP-K) scholarship.

In the talk show session, UI presented the Head of the Legal and Communication Division, Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education Agency (LPDP), M. Lukmanul Hakim, who shared tips for success in the selection process, as well as the opportunities and benefits of becoming a scholarship recipient. He advised students to maintain their Cumulative Achievement Index (IPK) and improve their English skills. “You can learn from the internet, no need for expensive lessons. Build a well-conceived strategy, because the journey towards an LPDP scholarship does require seriousness,” he said.

With this activity, Putra, a student at the UI Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, shared his first impressions of attending UI Scholarship Day 2024. According to him, this event was very insightful because so far he thought that scholarships at UI were few, but it turned out to be quite a lot. Meanwhile, Riantri—a student of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) class of 2024—was very impressed with the event because it facilitated the need for information about scholarships.

“Initially, I came to activate my KIP-K account. However, after attending this event, I saw a lot of other scholarship information, especially LPDP. The information provided was very complete and this was very useful because I was preparing to register for LPDP. Hopefully, this activity can be held every year because it is very helpful for students,” said Riantri.

UI Student Affairs Director, Dr. Badrul Munir, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., said that UI Scholarship Day is a form of UI’s commitment to helping students obtain scholarships and expanding educational opportunities for the younger generation. He said, “Through UI Scholarship Day 2024, students can explore information from scholarship providers and register directly on site. This year, UI invites new partners, while also giving appreciation to the most dedicated partners who faithfully work together in organizing student empowerment, training, and grants for research and community service.”
