Depok, September 13th 2023. In reducing the stunting rate in Indonesia, precise collaboration from various sectors and breakthroughs are needed. One of the innovations carried out by the Faculty of Nursing (FIK) at Universitas Indonesia (UI) was to create the SI CENTIL RISTI application (Information System for Stunting Prevention in High Risk Pregnant Mothers). This educational application is specifically designed to help and support pregnant women during their pregnancy. This is also in line with steps to prevent stunting carried out by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI), namely meeting nutritional needs from the time of pregnancy.
The SI CENTIL RISTI application offers diverse and informative features, including material about stunting and family empowerment, notes about pregnancy equipped with date, time and countdown, as well as a quiz feature to evaluate mother and family knowledge. Apart from that, SI CENTIL RISTI also provides a counseling feature with competent nurses which can be accessed for free every Monday-Friday from 08.00 to 16.00 WIB. Pregnant women need to be accompanied and empowered to maintain optimal nutritional status and health. This is expected to minimize the risk of stunting one level earlier in the first 1000 days of life starting from the time of pregnancy.
Through the UniversitasIndonesia Community Care Program, the FIK UI Service Team implemented the SI CENTIL RISTI innovation in Jatijajar Village, Tapos District, Depok City. This location was chosen because Tapos District is the district with the most stunting data at 5.31% of the total children aged 0-4 years in 2020. In addition, the prevalence of high risk pregnant women in Jatijajar Village in 2021 reached 187 and treatment of obstetric complications were 182 (90.32%).
The FIK UI service team consisted of Dr. Sigit Mulyono, S.Kp., MN.; NS. Kinantika Nur Dewanti, S.Kep., M.Kep., Sp.Kep., K.; NS. Ronalda J. Mampioper, S.Kep., M.Kep., Sp.Kep., K.; NS. Sohifah, S. Kep.; NS. Rahmahwati, S. Kep.; and Ns. Sonya Novita Nayunda Sari, S.Kep.
This activity was attended by 20 pregnant women, 5 accompanying families, and 5 health cadres in Jatijajar Village. This program consisted of an integrated process starting from health education, the role of family support, focused discussions and the use of the latest technology. Stunting education through SI CENTIL RISTI, started with the delivery of material presented by Ns. Kinantika Nur Dewanti., S.Kep., M.Kep., Sp.Kep., in high-risk pregnant mothers related to understanding the phenomenon of stunting, problems, goals, understanding of stunting, characteristics of children with stunting, efforts to prevent stunting, pregnant women at risk, and the role of family support.
Furthermore, the service team also empowered families using the focus group discussion (FGD) method which involved families in discussion groups regarding questions and cases related to stunting prevention. “Families are involved in the hope of increasing the role of family support to jointly prevent stunting in pregnant women at risk through a demonstration of the use of SI CENTIL RISTI android-based application technology,” said Ns. Sohifah, S.Kep, as one of the speakers.
