Depok, July 28th 2023. Since its establishment (1964) in Jakarta, the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Indonesia (UI), support from industrial partners cannot be separated from the development of FTUI, from infrastructure support to sharing the latest knowledge and technology. The collaboration between FTUI and its industrial partners has resulted in many excellent researches that have a positive impact on Indonesian society.
For this reason, still in relation to the 59th Anniversary (Dies Natalis) of FTUI, a cooperation agreement has been signed in the field of education and research with PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta (Perseroda). The signing of the cooperation agreement was carried out by the Dean of FTUI Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., and Director of PT MRT Jakarta Weni Maulina. This agreement includes the preparation of a technical review of fire safety guidelines within the MRT Jakarta environment.
Furthermore, FTUI and PT MRT Jakarta will collect data and literature reviews related to this study. From the collected data, FTUI will conduct an academic study of fire safety guidelines and prepare a framework for safety guidelines.
“This collaboration is a clear example of how FTUI can directly contribute to improving public safety. This collaboration is also a valuable opportunity for FTUI to apply existing academic and research knowledge to the real world, with a direct impact on society,” said Prof. Heri. He added, “I hope this collaboration can be a model for collaboration between universities and industry in efforts to improve the safety and quality of public services.”
Meanwhile, Weni Maulina said that this collaboration was a proactive and strategic step in ensuring the safety of MRT Jakarta service users. “This technical review will provide a deeper understanding of fire safety aspects that are relevant to the Jakarta MRT system. Data and literature studies collected by PT MRT Jakarta and FTUI will be an important basis in identifying potential risks and developing effective prevention measures,” said Weni.
The preparation of the fire safety guidelines framework by FTUI will be an important foundation for PT MRT Jakarta in implementing effective fire prevention, detection, and control measures. These guidelines will help create a safe environment for MRT Jakarta passengers and staff as well as improve response and evacuation in emergency situations. It is hoped that the collaboration between FTUI and PT MRT Jakarta will achieve the common goal of creating a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly transportation system for the citizens of Jakarta.
