UI has opened a selection of candidates for members of the Board of Trustees (MWA UI) representing Community Elements for the 2024–2029 term. Registration is open from 7 to February 25. MWA is an organ at UI that carries out normative functions in the non-academic field, representing the government, society, and UI to determine public policies and supervise or evaluate UI management.
Based on the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 75 of 2021 concerning the UI Statute, the MWA members consist of 17 people in six elements: the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the chancellor, seven deputy lecturers, six community representatives, one deputy education staff, and one student representative. Every five years, MWA is recruiting new members.
Therefore, UI calls for the nation’s best sons and daughters to become members of MWA UI who will occupy elements of society (six members). Two of them will become chairman of the Audit Committee and chairman of the Risk Committee if they meet the competence in organization, accounting and finance, and risk management.
The responsibilities of MWA UI include designating UI public policies after receiving consideration from the Chancellor, Academic Senate, and the Council of Professors; supervising the implementation and management of UI’s finance and facilitating fundraising and development of UI’s assets; managing the administration of UI non-academic activities under statutory provisions; authorize the Long Term Development Plan, Strategic Plan, Annual Work Plan, and Budget Work Plan and evaluate their implementation; selects and discharges the UI Chancellor.

Next, public advice will be asked for prospective MWA members from March 13 until 17, completing the Election of MWA Members on March 21, 2024.
