The Dental Research Ethics Committee (KEPKG) of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Indonesia (FKG UI) again won international recognition from The Strategic Initiative for Developing Capacity in Ethical Review (SIDCER) – Forum for Ethical Review Committees in Asia and the Western Pacific (FERCAP).
KEPKG FKG UI is the only Ethics Commission of the Faculty of Dentistry in Asia Pacific that won this international recognition.
The FKG UI KEPKG first received recognition from SIDCER-FERCAP in 2016. This recognition was achieved based on the results of assessments conducted by the assessment team from various ethical committees of FERCAP members from outside and within the country.
The assessment includes 5 standards, namely: Structure and composition of the ethics commission; Special Wisdom Provisions (SOP); Completeness of the review process; After the review process; Documentation and archives. The assessment results will be valid for 3 years.
The FKG UI KEPKG was first formed on August 27, 2003 through SK047 / Kep. / Dean / FKG / UI / 2003 under the name Dental Academic Ethics Commission in an effort to improve the quality of research and meet the ethical principles of research, namely: autonomy, honesty, not detrimental , benefits, and fairness. In 2005, through SK008 / Kep / Dean / FKG-UI / 2005, the name was changed to KEPKG FKG UI.
FERCAP is a Partnership Project from the World Health Organization (WHO) Special Training and Research Program in Tropical Diseases (TDR) which is under the umbrella of the Strategic Initiative for Developing Capacity in Ethical Review (SIDCER).
