After successfully listing nine of its researchers in the list of Stanford University’s Top 2% Scientists in the World in 2023, this year, Universitas Indonesia (UI) has placed thirteen of its researchers in the same category. The thirteen UI lecturers and researchers who are included in the “Top 2% Scientists Worldwide 2024” category come from the Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Engineering (FT), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), and School of Environmental Sciences (SIL).
The list of “Top 2% Scientists Worldwide 2024” is published by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier BV. The list was compiled by Prof. John P.A. Ioannidis, M.D., Ph.D., from Stanford University, and is the seventh edition of the publication “Updated Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators” published by Elsevier.
Stanford University released the latest scientist database on September 16, 2024, which is compiled based on standardized citation indicators. The database contains detailed information on various citation metrics, including the number of citations, h-index, hm-index adjusted for collaborative contributions (co-authorship), and a composite indicator (c-score).
Scientists included in the database are grouped into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields according to the Science-Metrix standard classification. Scientists are selected based on their c-score—with or without self-citations—among the top 100,000 scientists or those in the top 2% percentile in a particular sub-field.
In the Single-Year Impact category (citation data for 2023), three lecturers and researchers from the Faculty of Medicine who received this award were Prof. dr. Jeanne Adiwinata, M.S., Ph.D.; Prof. dr. Indah Suci Widyahening, M.S., M.Sc., CM-FM., Ph.D.; and Prof. Dr. dr. Sri Rezeki Hadinegoro, Sp.A.(K). From the Faculty of Engineering, a similar award was won by Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D.; Prof. Dr.-Ing. Nandy Setiadi Djaya Putra; and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suryanegara, S.T., M.Sc. Five researchers from FMIPA who are also included in this list are Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Rosari Saleh; Prof. Dr. Yoki Yulizar, M.Sc.; Munawar Khalil, S.Si., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D.; Dr. Dipo Aldila, S.Si., M.Si.; and Dewangga Oky Bagus Apriandanu, M.Si., Ph.D. Meanwhile, another researcher from SIL is Dr. Herdis Herdiansyah, S.Fil.I., M.Hum.
In the Career-Long Impact category (career citation data until the end of 2023), three lecturers and researchers who are included in this list are Prof. Dr.-Ing. Nandy Setiadi Djaya Putra; Prof. Dr. Ivandini Tribidasari A, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.; and Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D.
Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp,OF(K), expressed her highest appreciation to the 13 UI lecturers and researchers who successfully won awards as part of the 2% World Scientists 2024. According to her, this result is the fruit of the transformation that has been carried out by the Research and Innovation Division through the Directorate of Research and Development over the last two years where the focus of basic research is directed towards achieving quality and impactful publication outputs.
“This is proven by the increasing number of UI publications that have entered top journals and a significant increase in the number of citations. We are optimistic that with the quality and quantity of research at UI that has been built so far, more and more UI lecturers and researchers will not only be included in this prestigious list, but will also receive recognition in various global academic societies in the future,” said drg. Nurtami.
