Three UI Students Receive Shinhan Bank Scholarships

Three Universitas Indonesia (UI) students received educational scholarships from Shinhan Bank, one of the largest banks in South Korea. They are Safri Sitorus (Metallurgical Engineering), Muthia Afifa (Korean Language and Culture), and Alya K. Putri (Social Welfare).

The scholarship handover was represented by the Head of the Sub-Directorate of Student Welfare of the UI Student Affairs Directorate, Achmad Solechan, M.Si., and Shinhan Bank Human Resource Unit Head, Diah Aryanti, on Tuesday (30/4), at Pusgiwa UI, Depok Campus. In his speech, Achmad Solechan hoped that this scholarship can encourage students in achieving their goals. “Hopefully the awardees will be more enthusiastic to complete their studies and contribute more to society,” he said.

Meanwhile, Diah Aryanti appreciated the scholarship awardees who passed the selection. Awardees of this scholarship must be undergraduate students in the 5th or 7th semester with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and an IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEIC 405. “Congratulations to three UI’s students who successfully earned Shinhan scholarships. We hope this scholarship can motivate students to develop themselves and can contribute in various sectors. We are waiting for extraordinary movements from young people for mutual progress,” Diah said.

Muthia Afifa, as a Shinhan scholarship awardee, shared her experience during the Shinhan Bank scholarship selection. The selection begins with administration. Students who passed the administration selection will continue to interview session. She said, “Because I am a student of Korean Language and Culture Study Program, I was asked to introduce myself in Korean during the interview. I am very grateful to pass this selection. I hope I can maximize the scholarship benefit so I can graduate on time and give my best performance.”

UI and Shinhan Bank have been collaborating since 2017. Previously, Shinhan Bank also provided scholarships to UI’s best students in 2024. Shinhan Bank also established a vocational training center, including financial accounting training which has been carried out since 2016. Shinhan Bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program also provides facility services (support for underprivileged social groups), environmental services, and medical services.
