To Improve Digital Connectivity, UI Collaborates with KOICA to Build Connectivity Hub

As an effort to encourage equal access to digital and technology-based educational transformation in Indonesia, the Faculty of Humanities (FIB) of Universitas Indonesia (UI) once again held the seminar “2nd UGIC: Seminar on Connectivity in the Digital Era.” The event, which was a collaboration between FIB UI and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), took place at the Auditorium of Building I FIB, UI Depok Campus.

The Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FIB UI, Dr. Untung Yuwono, S.S., explained the importance of building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the UI environment, especially among students. “Through this seminar, we want to encourage students to develop an entrepreneurial spirit based on technology and digitalization. This is in line with our vision to make FIB UI a center for digital educational innovation,” said Dr. Untung in the seminar held on Friday, November 29.

In this activity, there was also a collaboration between FIB UI and KOICA to produce the development of the Connectivity Hub (C-Hub) UI, which is a smart building and a program that plays an important role in digital transformation, which will connect the University, Government, Industry, and Community (UGIC).

C-Hub UI is designed as a digital innovation center that functions to overcome the digital divide in Indonesia, especially in education, access to information, and international cooperation. With the spirit of inclusivity, sustainability, and transformation, C-Hub aims to be a bridge between technology and the needs of society, while encouraging a collaborative ecosystem between academics, government, industry, and the community.

Through C-Hub UI, the seminar featuring leaders of government institutions and leading companies, such as Kiwoom Sekuritas Indonesia, PT Dongsuh Indonesia, and Datapedia Strategis, bridges the digital divide which is often a major challenge in an archipelagic country like Indonesia. The main focus is on the development of digital platforms that are relevant to Indonesia’s educational needs, as well as supporting academic entrepreneurship as part of a dynamic educational ecosystem.

The seminar, attended by around 150 participants, presented various stakeholders including university leaders, lecturers, students, government officials, and experts in business and technology. Panel discussions and presentations from speakers highlighted the challenges and practical solutions related to access to digital education, cybersecurity, and the role of digitalization in supporting sustainable development.

The meeting of expert speakers from various fields shared strategic insights on digital transformation. Representatives from Kiwoom Sekuritas Indonesia discussed how digitalization increases efficiency and transparency in the financial sector, providing great benefits for industry players and investors.

Meanwhile, HR & GA Manager of PT Dongsuh Indonesia explained the importance of implementing digital technology in human resource management to create an adaptive and innovative work environment. Meanwhile, the Director of Datapedia Strategis highlighted the great potential of data as a foundation for creating technology-based solutions for various business challenges. “Digitalization is the use of digital technology to transform a business into a digital model to increase value and revenue,” said Ir. Subkhan, S.T., M.PSDA, IPU., Asean Eng., Chair of Commission 2 of the National K3 Council.

Through this seminar, the Chairperson of the Seminar Organizing Committee Eva Latifah, Ph.D., said that FIB UI continues to be committed to leading digital transformation in the world of education, while strengthening synergies between academics, government, industry, and society through various communities to support a more inclusive and competitive future for Indonesia.
