To Support Digital Education, FT Introduces Three Modern Facilities

Universitas Indonesia (UI) added three new facilities to the Engineering Center Building, Faculty of Engineering (FT). The three modern facilities are Reisyah Agam Kamil Student Commons EngSpace, Smart Auditorium K301 FTUI’94 Legacy, and Smart Classroom DPD REI DKI Jakarta. UI Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, who attended the inauguration last December, said that these facilities are a manifestation of UI’s commitment to providing facilities that support the advancement of higher education in Indonesia.

“The facilities that we inaugurated have extraordinary value. Reisyah Agam Kamil Student Commons is a symbol of dedication to supporting creativity, collaboration, and students’ enthusiasm for learning. Meanwhile, the renovation of Auditorium K301 FTUI’94 Legacy and Smart Classroom DPD REI DKI Jakarta represents UI’s vision towards a smart campus thanks to the collaboration with alumni and DPD REI DKI Jakarta. This is done so that UI becomes a place of learning that is interactive, modern, and based on sophisticated technology,” said Prof. Heri.

Smart Auditorium K301 FTUI’94 Legacy and Smart Classroom DPD REI DKI Jakarta are developments of Smart Auditorium K301 and Smart Classroom S101. According to the Deputy Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., this development was carried out to support modern and inclusive technology-based learning. He hopes that with this facility, FTUI can be an example in utilizing technology for education, and be able to become a collaborative, interactive, and adaptive learning space to the times.

The development of Smart Auditorium K301 FTUI’94 Legacy is part of the transformation of the facility that was renovated 10 years ago. In 2022, the audio and video systems of this auditorium have been updated. The renovation focused on improving the interior to be more modern and installing more sophisticated systems. All facilities, including AC, audio, and video, are connected in one integrated system. In the future, this auditorium will be used for lectures, seminars, and other activities with large capacities.

Meanwhile, the Smart Classroom DPD REI DKI Jakarta S101 is designed as a learning space that supports collaboration between students and lecturers equipped with sophisticated technology to create a more effective, interactive, and enjoyable learning environment. Deputy Chairperson of DPD REI DKI Jakarta, Ghofar Razaq Nazila, said that this renovation is the result of collaboration between academics and the industrial world in encouraging the advancement of educational infrastructure.

“We hope that this facility will not only be the pride of FTUI, but can also be an inspiration for other educational institutions. Hopefully, FTUI students who study in the smart classroom of DPD REI DKI Jakarta will be increasingly motivated to achieve the best achievements, both at the national and international levels,” said Ghofar.

In addition to the two rooms, FTUI also inaugurated the Reisyah Agam Kamil Student Commons EngSpace. This modern multifunctional space is equipped with various facilities, such as smart TVs, discussion rooms, high-speed internet connectivity, and flexible work areas. This facility is dedicated to the memory of the late Reisyah Agam Kamil, an FTUI alumnus who was known for his dedication and contributions to the field of engineering and construction management. Reisyah is an alumnus of Civil Engineering FTUI class of 2010 who graduated with the predicate Top 10% Graduate in 2014. Outside of his academic achievements, Reisyah is active in various activities, such as serving as Head of Logistics Division at CENS UI, contributing to Indonesia Mengglobal, and becoming Head of Admissions at Garuda Bisa.

Iskandar Muda Kamil, Reisyah’s father, said, “Reisyah Agam Kamil is a figure who sets an example for us. In December 2021, Reisyah preceded us all to meet the Creator. For that, Reisyah Agam Kamil Student Commons was built to commemorate her spirit in studying at FTUI. We hope that Reisyah Agam Kamil Student Common will not only be a place to work, but also a symbol of the spirit of innovation and contribution that Reisyah has shown throughout his life.”
