UI Achieves 5 Starts Plus in Healthy University Rating System 2023

Universitas Indonesia (UI) achieved 5 Star Plus in the Healthy University Rating System (HURS) 2023 organized by the ASEAN University Network-Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN). This award was given by the Chair of the Committee on HURS Development, Prof. Chartchalerm Isarankura-Na-Ayudhya, to the University Secretary of UI, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D, at the event “The 10th Anniversary of the ASEAN University Network–Health Promotion Network,” on Tuesday, December 3, at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok, Thailand.

Prof. Chartchalerm said that the award won by UI is an acknowledgment from AUN-HPN for UI’s commitment to promoting and maintaining a culture of health and well-being on its campus. “This coveted 5 Star Plus ranking is proof of UI’s extraordinary efforts that exceed the highest standards set by the Healthy University Ranking System in 2023,” he said.

In the ranking, UI scored 985 out of 1000 on three assessment indicators, namely System and Infrastructure, Zero Tolerance Areas, and Health Promotion Areas. The three aspects include 42 self-assessment questions based on 22 areas listed in the Healthy University Framework (HUF) and reflect the success of health promotion in the campus environment.

The 2023 HURS assessment took place from August 15 to November 16, 2023. As part of the verification process, the AUN-HPN Secretariat visited UI in February 2024 to ensure the validity of the reported data and review the implementation of health programs in the field.

The delegates visited several locations at UI to see the health facilities provided, especially those related to physical activity and facilities for the disabled. Some of them are the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), Vocational, Satellite Clinic, and Sports Facilities (SOR). In addition, they also reviewed the health program implemented at UI, namely Posbindu (Integrated Development Post). From the assessment results, UI was declared to have comprehensive health promotion policies and practices to become a healthy university.

University Secretary of UI, dr. Agustin, appreciated the hard work of UI academics in improving UI’s achievements. “In HURS 2022, UI achieved 5 Stars, and now in HURS 2023, UI achieved 5 Stars Plus. This improvement proves that HURS is able to encourage UI academics to live better. The HURS indicator not only assesses UI facilities that support a healthy environment, but also looks at the systems and policies implemented to ensure UI residents are healthy,” said dr. Agustin.

HURS was developed based on HUF from AUN-HPN which supports its members to develop and implement a comprehensive approach to health, well-being, and sustainability in the campus environment. Each member can share knowledge, skills, and resources to build health promotion capacity and develop innovative solutions to public health challenges in the relevant region.

UI’s achievements in HURS emphasize UI’s commitment to creating a healthy, disaster-resilient, and sustainable campus. This achievement also strengthens UI’s position as one of the leading universities in Indonesia that actively contributes to the promotion of global health and sustainable development.

In addition to the awarding, the event that coincided with “The 1st AIHD International Forum” also presented a conference titled “Strengthening Global Health, Primary Healthcare, and Health Promotion for a Sustainable Future.” UI, represented by dr. Agustin and Prof. Dr. Robiana Modjo, S.K.M., M.Kes., presented best practices and the journey of HURS implementation at UI.
