UI Achieves Best PTN-BH and PTN BH League KPI Growth

Depok, July 22nd 2023. The enthusiasm and hard work of Universitas Indonesia’s (UI) academic community in consolidating UI’s position as the best in the country and respected in Southeast Asia, received appreciation. Last night (Friday, 21/07) in the event “Evaluation of Implementation of Programs, Activities, and Budget for the Second Quarter of 2023 in the Directorate General of Higher Education and Technology” UI won two awards in the Best Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Achievement category for 2022. UI was included in the Excellence category of the PTN-BH League IKU for IKU 2 (Students Gaining Experience Off-Campus) and the category of Best PTN-BH IKU Growth, from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), through the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek). Higher education institutes from across Indonesia attended the awarding event that took place at JW Marriott Hotel, Kuningan, Jakarta.

Plt. Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.Eng., expressed his appreciation and congratulations to all higher education leaders who have worked hard to achieve KPI. He said in his remarks, “The overall KPI achievement has increased. This is one of the things that we appreciate so that  the IKU reward distance will be closer. Hopefully, the productivity of all higher education institutions will be more evenly distributed in the future as measured by the eight KPIs.”

In addition to giving awards to Legal-Entity State Universities (PTN-BH), the Directorate General of Higher Education also gives awards to Public Service Agency State Universities (PTN-BLU) and Work Unit State Universities (PTN-Satker) which have the best KPI achievements. This higher education performance assessment is based on eight KPIs which include KPI 1 – graduates get decent jobs; KPI 2–students gain experience off campus; KPI 3–lecturers have activities outside the campus; KPI 4–practitioners teach on campus; KPI 5–the work of lecturers is used by the community; KPI 6–study programs are in collaboration with world-class partners; KPI 7–collaborative and participatory classes; and KPI 8 – International standard study program.

Prior to the announcement of the achievement of the KPI, a ceremony was held in the afternoon for the signing of the 2023 PTN–BH Higher Education Endowment Fund Contract Document. Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D, attended the event and signed the 2023 PT PTN-BH Endowment Fund Contract Document regarding endowment management. Together with 15 other PTN-BHs, UI is committed to continuing to increase endowment funds so that the proceeds can be utilized for the implementation of Three Principles of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi) and university development. Prof. Ari said that the results of managing this endowment fund have been distributed to students in the form of scholarships.

In the evening, UI Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris represented UI in receiving the KPI award and expressed his highest appreciation to all the UI teams and academics who succeeded in achieving the Key Performance Indicator Achievements given by the Directorate General of Higher Education and Technology. “This is a result of hard work from all of UI academic community stakeholders in maintaining efforts to meet the KPI mandated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Once again, congratulations and keep up the spirit to continue to work even better in the future,” he said.

On the same occasion, Prof. Nizam made a speech saying that an endowment fund is important to become the basis for a university to grow more stably. “My hope is that every PTN-BH has a high endowment fund so they can run fast without worrying about UKT (Single Tuition Fee) and various kinds of high-dynamic state budget fluctuations. I also hope that several PTN-BH representatives can learn about fundraising and managing endowments from foreign universities that have been able to manage it so that we can learn how these universities can become world-class universities,” said Prof. Nizam.

The ceremony for awarding the Best Key Performance Indicator Achievement (KPI) in 2022 and the signing of the PT PTN-BH Endowment Fund Contract Document for 2023 is a series of events for the Evaluation of the Implementation of Programs, Activities, and the 2023 Quarter II Budget within the Directorate General of Higher Education. Also present at the event, Universitas Indonesia University SecretaryI, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Vice-Rector for Finance and Logistics, Vita Silvira, S.E., MBA.
