UI and the Victoria State Government Establish Collaboration to Strengthen the Realization of Research and Innovation in ASEAN

In order to strengthen collaboration and build global engagement, Universitas Indonesia (UI) received a visit from a delegation of Victoria State Government Australia in Meeting Room A, Central University Administration Building, UI Depok Campus, on Thursday (23/02). The meeting discussed efforts to strengthen the relationship between Victoria and Indonesia with a focus on partnerships in research and innovation.

In her opening remarks, UI Secretary dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D. said, “UI and the Victoria State Government have had a long-term collaboration and several joint collaborative activities before. The collaboration that has been established must bring good impact and value for both the Victorian and Indonesian governments, especially for the wider community.”

Previously, the Victoria State Government has provided support in research and innovation in several countries in ASEAN. Victorian Commissioner for Southeast Asia Rebecca Hall said, education is one of the keys to supporting economic growth and prosperity. “Our goal is to create innovation and educational opportunities through our long-term partnership. This collaboration is a time for us to develop shared priorities in innovation and research collaboration,” said Rebecca.

Lead Scientist and Director of Breakthrough Victoria Dr. Amanda Caples added, through this meeting, it is hoped that each party would be able to explain their respective perspectives regarding commitment to supporting the creation of innovation and research in this collaboration. In addition, this collaboration hopefully will facilitate researchers in conducting research.

This cooperation between UI and the Victoria State Government includes joint projects, collaboration programs through the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP), joint academic programs (joint degree and joint research), double degrees, student and academic personnel exchange mobility, soft skills training for work preparation for alumni, supports for research and innovation facilities for academic personnel and postgraduate students, and efforts to supply needs or products in the health sector.

Baiduri Widanarko, M.KKK, Ph.D .; Head of Sub-Directorate for Development of Innovation and KI & Promotion, DISTP UI, Krisnayanto, A.Md., S.H., M.H., CGCP., CLA.; Directorate of Partnership, Dr. Eko Sakapurnama, S.Psi., MBA; Head of Sub-Directorate for Research Cooperation Development, drg. Masita Mandasari. Ph. D. Sp.PM .; and Director of Research and Development UI, Munawar Khalil, Ph.D.

Meanwhile, the delegates of the Victoria State Government of Australia who also attended this meeting were Senior Education Services Director, Victorian Government Office Indonesia, Ratu Sovi Arinta and Education Services Director, Victorian Government Office Indonesia, Belinda Rimbo.
