On January 9th to 23rd 2017 Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) cooperated with Universiteit Leiden (UL) Netherlands to held study visit for two weeks that discussed about ecosystem and environmental sustainability.
In this program, 24 students from UI and UL gathered in order to get to know each other’s culture as well as finding out ecosystem and environmental problem in Indonesia.
The program was held in two sessions. The first week was theory session that introduced culture and environmental diversity in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the next or second week was visit session to nature reserve parks in Bogor, among of them were Taman Nasional Gunung Gede Pangrango, Pusat Pendidikan Konservasi Alam Bodogol, and Kebun Raya Bogor.
“The purpose of this program is exploration as well as the first stage to form dual degree program with Universiteit Leiden in conservation and sustainability subject,” said Dean of FMIPA, Dr.rer.nat. Abdul Haris.
The program was named “Program Winter School”, because it was held during winter in Netherlands.
In the program, each student from both universities got partner from different university in conducting their activities, that called “Buddy”.
This ‘buddy’ system was meant to make sure that there would be cultural and knowledge exchange between the two countries during the program.
During activities, 12 students from UL stayed att Wisma Makara, UI Depok. All students did direct environmental observation and presented their sub topic that had given to each group.
