In the spirit of mutual progress and mutual benefit between institutions, Universitas Indonesia (UI) and PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten (BJB), signed a memorandum of understanding at Sheraton Bandung Hotel, Bandung, on Friday (12/08). The agreement was signed by the Rector of Universitas Indonesia Prof. Ari Kuncoro, SE, MA, Ph.D., and BJB Bank President Director Yuddy Renaldi.
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Ari said that this collaboration is a form of implementation of Tri Dharma, which is the main task for the academic community in supporting the vision, mission, and functional duties and authority of BJB Bank in Indonesia. “UI strongly supports the policies carried out by BJB Bank in order to build a stable financial system and digital payment ecosystem in Indonesia. In addition, banking digitalization and Sustainable Finance program becomes a necessity, so the urgency to conduct various researches and form policies to support these two things can be a priority to be worked out by UI and BJB Bank in the near future as the output of collaboration activities that have quick and measurable results (Quick Win),” said Prof. Ari.
In addition, Prof. Ari further said that this strategic partnership is also expected to accelerate triple helix collaboration efforts with the concept of ABG (Academics, Business, and Government), so various researches and future studies can be policy brief and study cases (used cases) which has importance and can assist BJB Bank in realizing its vision and mission as the main platform for providing digital financial services.
The joint agreement between UI and BJB Bank covers six scopes, namely the Implementation of Education, Research, Community Service; Research Collaboration and Resource Development Management; Scientific Activities, Scientific Studies, Seminars, and Workshops Management; Human Resources Competency Training, Improvement, and Development; Implementation of Independent Learning Program Activities of Kampus Merdeka; and other mutually agreed activities.
Yuddy Renaldi said in his speech that this collaboration is a pride and joy for BJB Bank and is in line with one of the missions of BJB Bank, which is to contribute and participate as a driving force and support for the regional economy.
“The signing of the memorandum of understanding also certainly marks a wider synergy between BJB Bank and UI, where previously BJB bank also participated in several activities in Universitas Indonesia, including UI Open Days and webinars on digitizing the post-pandemic ecosystem of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises sector and local tourism. Of course, we are highly committed to always fully support every activity at Universitas Indonesia in the future,” said Yuddy.
Yuddy further said, that is proper for the two institutions that have been massively grown up in West Java and accompanied by cooperation that continues to be improved in order to make a positive contribution between the two parties. He also invited UI academic community to try products and services at BJB Bank as well as to always synergize and make BJB Bank a strategic partner in realizing UI’s vision of becoming a center of prime and competitive science, technology and culture through efforts to educate the nation’s life in improving the society welfare so that it contributes to the development of Indonesian society and the world.
Also present on the occasion were the Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris; Vice Rector of Human Resources and Assets Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA.; Director of Cooperation Dr. Toto Pranoto. Meanwhile, who were also present from BJB Bank were the Commercial Director Nancy Adistyasari; Director of Consumer & Retail Suartini; Head of Institutional Relations Division Isa Anwari; and CEO of Regional 2 Beni Harjono.
