SUPPORTING THE ACCELERATION OF DEVELOPMENT IN ALL SECTORS, UI ESTABLISHES COOPERATION WITH CENTRAL KALIMANTAN PROVINCE
In order to optimize human resources (HR) in the prospective area for the New Capital City (IKN), Universitas Indonesia (UI) collaborated with the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D. and Governor of Central Kalimantan H. Sugianto Sabran, S.IP, on Wednesday (1/3), at UI Depok Campus. It is hoped that the cooperation that has been established between these institutions can accelerate various development programs and progress in all sectors so that the benefits can be felt by the community.
Prof. Ari said that UI is ready to establish synergies with the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government through pentahelix approach by collaborating higher education, the community, local government, and industrial partners. According to him, this approach will make a contribution in the real world and can be implemented in classroom learning. “Central Kalimantan is the largest province in Indonesia, and UI wants to play a role as a collaborator in development planning in Central Kalimantan. Therefore, through 14 faculties, 2 schools, and 1 vocational education program at UI, we are open to collaboration with Central Kalimantan,” said Prof. Ari.
On that occasion, Sugianto appreciated UI and all of its officials who are willing to accept this collaboration. He deemed that support and collaboration with UI are very important in making contributions related to research and regional development in Central Kalimantan. “Central Kalimantan previously had several universities, both public and private universities. The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government plans to build universities in two regions, which are in the eastern region, Das Barito, and the western region, Kotawaringin,” said Sugianto.
The MoU, which was signed by UI and the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government, then was shown in the form of a cooperation agreement in the field of innovation and health research. The cooperation agreement related to regional research and innovation as well as planning for the establishment of universities in Central Kalimantan Province was signed by Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets UI Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA, and Head of the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Development Agency for Central Kalimantan Province Kaspinor.
The scope of the cooperation includes research and innovation based on potential and regional characteristics; research and innovation in regional economic development programs as IKN partners; plan for the establishment of universities and vocational schools in Central Kalimantan; organization of seminars, technical training, workshops for research human resources; as well as monitoring and evaluating activity for the implementation of cooperation.
The cooperation agreement related to the implementation of education in the health sector was signed by Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs UI Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, and Head of the Central Kalimantan Health Office Dr. dr. Suyuti Syamsul, MPPM. In the future, this cooperation will cover education; preparation and assignment for students in the Medical Specialist Education Study Program, Subspecialist Doctors, and Specialist Nurses; the funding of education costs; as well as coaching, supervising, controlling, and evaluating the learning process of students.
