There is always something unique and different at a graduation ceremony of Universitas Indonesia (UI). This year, for example, the graduation was divided into four sessions, a combination of several faculties so that the number of graduates was contained to, approximately, 2,200 people per session. In addition, an exhibition of graduation photo archives from time to time was held. The photos are from the collection of the UI Archives Office.
This afternoon, the audience at the Balairung, Depok Campus, was spoiled by songs performed by the singer Paragita led by AG. Sudibyo. After several songs, when the photographer and recorder pointed the camera at the graduates, some of them raised their gadgets containing writing.
“Bismillah Lulus CPNS 2024,” “Info Loker,” “Untuk Papa di Surga, Aku Hari Ini Wisuda,” to the very contemporary “Gak Bisa Yura, Pendamping Wisudanya Jauh,” inviting the excitement of the graduates. There were also graduates who, together with their friends, put together words on several gadgets that read “Info Jodoh Dong Gaes,” “Bismillah Nikah 2025,”
Head of the UI Public Relations and Public Information Disclosure (KIP) Bureau, Dra. Amelita Lusia., M.Si. said, “It’s nice to see how they enjoy this event. In addition to holding graduation, Universitas Indonesia also welcomed more than 10,000 new students who have been accepted through various UI entrance routes.”
“By bringing together new students and graduates at the same event, we hope that the new students who witness the event directly will be motivated so that they can complete their studies well and on time,” said Amelita.
The total number of UI graduates at this graduation, from the Vocational to Doctoral education program levels, is 9,074 people. They consist of 619 diploma program graduates, 4,730 undergraduate program graduates, 511 professional graduates, 385 specialist 1 graduates, 2,532 master’s graduates, 86 specialist 2 graduates, and 211 doctoral graduates.
