World Green Campus Rangking, UI GreenMetric World University, announced 2016 rangking on Thursday, December 29th 2016 at Balai Kirti, UI Depok.
The top three world ranking were University of California Davis (United States) with total score of 8.398, University of Nottingham (England) with total score of 8.079, and Waganingen University & Research (Netherlands) with score of 7.658.
Moreover, University of Connecticut (United States) was on the 4th place with score of 7.591 and on the 5th place was University of Oxford (England) with score of 7.591.
On the national level, Universitas Indonesia (UI) was on the 31st place with total score 6.571, followed by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November that was on 43th place with score of 6.370, and Institut Pertanian Bogor was on 57th place with score of 6.173.
Unviersitas Diponegoro was on 69th place with total score 5.995, meanwhile Universitas Sebelas Maret was on 76th place with score of 5.960.
UI GreenMetric is the first universities ranking that the main assessment is based on commitment of universities on campus environment management.
Indicators that is used is campus green statistic (15%), waste management (18%), energy and climate change (21%), water usage (10%), transportation (18%) and education (18%).
In his speech, Rector of UI, Prof.Dr.Ir. Muhammad Anis, M. Met. said that those indicators were made to assess the commitment of universities to keep their environment in the green state.
“The other purpose is to make the universities able to evaluate themselves and improve the direction of development to green campus concept that eco-friendly,” added him.
In 2016, UI GreenMetric was participated by 516 universities from 4 continents in the world. On the national level, there were 49 universities that were participated in this rangking.
Also in 2016, UI GreenMetric initiated a universities network named UI GreenMetric Network Hub.
This network will become the media for UI GreenMetric participant universities to share their green campus management.
The real act of this activity is annual conference as well as technical workshops that will be done in several participant countries of UI GreenMetric.
UI GreenMetric in 2012 was also officially accepted as IREG (International Rangking Expert Group) Observatory member on The 6th IREG Conference in April 2012 in Taipei.
