Secretary of UI dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D.

“Restrictions during the pandemic have made us aware that this situation must be overcome by making comprehensive and integrated efforts without being limited by regional boundaries. The term is “borderless solution”. This borderless solution definitely requires cooperation that is also borderless, be it cooperation in a multidisciplinary context as well as in other sectors and across countries,” said dr. Agustin.

Cross-country collaboration enables the birth of various innovations, especially in the field of information and communication technology (ICT). This can bring up opportunities to work, create, and develop oneself. The development of ICT makes the younger generation, especially the Z and Alpha generations, have different perceptions of their future lives and are able to dream of careers without knowing regional boundaries.

One of the challenges of higher education today is how to create young people as global citizens, which are people who understand global problems and contribute to overcoming world humanitarian problems. To create global citizens, what UI has developed is providing exposure about global issues to students.

UI builds cooperation with various partner universities to provide opportunities for UI students to gain experience in studying at world universities. The UI International Class Program is expected to produce excellent and global-minded graduates who can actively contribute to solving global problems, especially in Indonesia.

Not only were there eight faculty booths at UI that held the International Class program, seven foreign universities also participated in opening booths, including Oregon State University, Swiss Education Group, Asia Pacific University, University of Adelaide (partner), University of Canberra (partner), Newcastle University (partner), and Coventry University (partner).

UI International Class opens a pathway for student admissions through Talent Scouting and independent selection test (SIMAK). For the Talent Scouting, the selection is made based on the academic grades of the report cards which involve the role of the school. The UI International Class is open for undergraduate level whose registration in the 2023/2024 Academic Year period will be held in February-March 2023 through the Talent Scouting and in May-June 2023 through SIMAK UI. Information regarding this registration can be accessed via www.simak.ui.ac.id and the registration page at www.penerimaan.ui.ac.id.
