Universitas Indonesia (UI) has again become the university with the highest number of scholarship awardees for the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program. This year, UI participants reached 353 people. 261 are undergraduate students and 98 are vocational students (D3 and D4). 2/3 of the total awardees were students from the Social Humanities group, 28% from the Science and Technology group, while the 5% were from the Health Sciences group.
UI Chancellor, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D, expressed his appreciation to all students who passed the IISMA 2024 program. According to Prof. Ari, this is the best opportunity to gain learning experience from the world’s top universities. “They become part of the global community and can open their minds to represent Indonesia. UI hopes that students can play an important role in building the reputation of UI and Indonesia in host countries, thereby unlocking opportunities for Indonesian universities, especially UI, to compete and collaborate globally,” said Prof. Ari.
The students are boarding to the host country next semester (winter), starting from July 2024 to March 2025. They are spread across 121 Universities Abroad (PTLN) in different countries. 10 host countries with the most UI students are England (59 students), Australia (37 students), United States (29 students), Hungary (18 students), Italy (17 students), Taiwan (17 students), South Korea (16 students ), New Zealand (14 students), Russia (14 students), and Canada (14 students).

In the last three years, the number of UI students participating in this program has continued to increase: 92 people in 2021, 219 people in 2022, and 363 people in 2023. As one of the flagship programs organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), IISMA is the most popular program among students. This makes IISMA very competitive, so participants must have good academic capability and decent English proficiency.
