UI Professors Lead World-level Reproductive Technology Organizations

Prof. DR. Dr. Budi Wiweko, SpOG (K), MPH, Professor of the Faculty of Medicine UI on May 2-5, 2019, was a speaker at the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE) event, which was held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center. In the activity, Budi Wiweko explained about “Cutting Edge of Reproductive Medicine” which one of them talked about the development of the health world in the middle of the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0

He talked about how the phenomenon of “Big data” in the current era. Big patient data is very important in analyzing large complex data such as data genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, interactomics, pharmacogenomics, diseasesomics, biomedical data and electronic health data.

In addition, he also talked about the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the world of health. “The fact is, recent research shows that AI is more accurate in determining quality embryos, in determining the potential for birth,” said Budi Wiweko.

Budi Wiweko explained how the world of health changed, when the diagnosis was done based on symptoms, currently based on patterns, in the future the diagnosis of disease will be based on data algorithms, so that it will produce what is called “precision medicine”. At the end of the material, he said that all the changes / disruptions that occur in the world of health today are a beginning from the beginning, not a beginning from the end.

The Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE), is an international organization which is a cross-professional association in the field of assisted reproductive technology. Professor Budi Wiweko serves as President at ASPIRE for a term of 2018-2020.
