Depok, September 1st, 2023. Universitas Indonesia (UI) is expanding its collaboration with PT Cyber Edu Inkor which has been established since 2021. The collaboration that was previously focused on the education sector has now expanded to the fields of research and innovation. The expansion of this collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Education, Research and Community Service between UI Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp,OF(K), and President Director of PT Cyber Edu Inkor, Prof. Jang Youn Cho, B.A., M.P.A., Ph.D., CPA.
Previously, UI collaborated with PT Cyber Edu Inkor in creating, developing and marketing the Global Executive Program. This collaboration is an implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Independent Learning-Independent Campus) program which aims to expand education and encourage UI teachers to gain experience in the industrial sector. This collaboration is planned to be expanded to include innovation creation and startup development.
drg. Nurtami assessed that the expansion of this collaboration is a form of joint commitment to strengthen cooperation between UI and PT Cyber Edu Inkor. She hoped that the commitment of the two institutions in working on startup innovation and development can be realized. “This will be a great opportunity to grow good leaders, managers, executives and inventors in order to create and utilize high-level innovation technologies in the future,” she said.
UI believes innovation plays an important role in introducing new things to product lines to increase market revenue and customer satisfaction. Therefore, it is hoped that the expansion of cooperation between UI and PT Cyber Edu Inkor will develop startups and business incubators, as well as grow a faster collaboration ecosystem between Indonesia and South Korea. “With this expansion, we hope to help startups on their initial journey and navigate some of the most challenging aspects of doing business. We will provide the specialization that startups need to grow and innovate,” said drg. Nurtami.
Meanwhile, Prof. Jang Youn Chon, who also serves as Rector of Cyber Asia University, mentioned the need to expand cooperation between PT Cyber Edu Inkor and UI. Previously, these two institutions had collaborated with experts/practitioners in the business sector as well as to participate in the Global Executive Program. This time, this cooperation will be extended to the development of ideas, such as biotech, energy sources, and information technology.
“For more than 50 years, Korea has been economically and technologically independent from Japan and America. Today, South Korea excels in IT, biotech, shipbuilding and more. However, despite having industrial independence in the automotive and technology fields, South Korea is experiencing a population growth crisis, where there are only 200 thousand births per year at present. On the other hand, Indonesia reaches 6 million births per year. Therefore, with so many ideas to be independent, we hope that Indonesia can work together to grow a truly independent business,” said Prof. Jang Youn Chon.
