UI Publications Set New Records in Q1 Journals Throughout 2024

Universitas Indonesia (UI) continues to strengthen its commitment as an inclusive, tolerant, superior, and independent university by encouraging high-quality research that has a broad impact on the global community. UI creates an open academic environment for all levels of society, ensuring that every research conducted is relevant to current developments and social needs.

In 2024, UI made history by publishing more than 1,000 articles in reputable international journals Q1. Until the end of October 2024, 1,029 articles by UI academics had been published in Q1 journals, with 13.8% of them published in journals ranked in the top 10% percentile. In addition, UI’s Field Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) value also showed a figure of 1.15, which means that UI’s scientific articles received an average of 15% more citations than the world average, indicating that the research produced is not only high-quality, but also relevant and has a broad impact.

Vice Rector for Research and Innovation UI, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp,OF(K), explained that this achievement is the result of the transformation of the research ecosystem carried out in the university environment. This transformation aims to ensure that every research conducted is not only of high quality, but also has a real impact on the global community. The integrated strategy implemented by UI has succeeded in creating an academic atmosphere that encourages collaboration, innovation, and sustainable research productivity.

According to drg. Nurtami, this success shows that UI has built a strong foundation to support and facilitate high-quality research with great impact. UI is confident that its contribution to the development of global science will continue.

Meanwhile, the Director of Research and Development of UI, Munawar Khalil, Ph.D., expressed his pride in this achievement. He explained that this achievement is proof of the solid collaboration between UI lecturers, researchers, and students that produces research that has a great impact. UI is committed to continuing to encourage innovative research that is relevant to the needs of the times, with optimism that publications in Q1 journals will continue to increase in the future.

UI is also committed to developing a research ecosystem that supports superior research and innovation that contributes to society both nationally and internationally. UI’s research focus covers three main scientific fields: health, science-technology, and social-humanities, which are expected to not only benefit the academic world but also make significant contributions in the industrial sector.
