Universitas Indonesia reached a new achivement this year. UI ranking in Asia reached 12 points, from 79 th place to 67 th based on QS University Ranking 2016. QS University Ranking also reported UI position in Indonesia that is still on the first place.
Rector of UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met, said that “Ranking is not the main purpose that is pursued by an educational institution, but producing excellent graduates as well as improving quality of education, research and community service,”
Moreover, Anis said that improving quality can be done by fulfilling parameters that is used by world university rankings. “We are proud of this achievement, that indirectly shows that educational institution in Indonesia has got recognition by the world,” said him.
Based on calculation that is done by QS team, UI lead on educators, academic reputation, foreign educators, and also teaching activity on each faculty. Beside that, the other indicator that is fulfilled among of them are the increasing number on journal publications, human reseources management in university as well as faculty level, and organization management that include culture, habit, policy and internationalization effort of students and educators.
This effort is parallel with government program to improve higher education quality, research and innovation in order to upgrade country’s competitiveness.
