Universitas Indonesia (UI) hosted a delegation from Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT) Gumi City, South Korea, during an official visit which took place in the UI Administration Center Building Meeting Room. This meeting aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration in the fields of education and research between two leading educational institutions in Asia.
This event was opened with a warm welcome by the Secretary of University Universitas Indonesia , dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D, who welcomed the delegation from KIT with enthusiasm and optimism. “Thank you for visiting our campus in Depok. We hope that this collaboration will be a meaningful collaboration, which will have a positive impact not only on our campus but also on our society,” said dr. Agustin
In her welcoming speech, dr. Agustin also generally introduced UI as a large, modern, open and multi-cultural university in Indonesia with two branch campuses, namely in Depok for the undergraduate level and in Salemba, Central Jakarta for the postgraduate level. UI has 14 undergraduate majors with various achievements. Not long ago, UI was ranked 1st in Indonesia according to the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR) 2024. UI is committed to becoming one of the leading research universities and academic institutions in the world with a focus on discovery, development, and dissemination of knowledge regionally and globally .
During this visit, KIT was represented by Ki Moo Lim, Dean of International Programs & Language Education Center Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Korea. “I feel very happy and honored for this opportunity to be at UI. I believe that in the world of education that continues to change and develop, collaboration between universities is the key to creating opportunities for society, and we hope that this visit will bring benefits to both parties,” said Lim.
Kumoh National Institute of Technology is a national research university focused on business development in South Korea. The university is located in the industrial center of Gumi, Gyeongbuk Province, South Korea, and consists of four faculties. After 40 years of existence, KIT has now become one of the leading universities in Korea with a ranking of 62nd according to Scimago Institutions in Korea. The advantage of KIT’s location in Gumi City is that it is located in the center of the industrial area in Korea. Therefore, students at KIT can easily access career learning in various advanced and diverse industries in Korea.

That’s why we came here to invite more Indonesian students to study at KIT,” said Eugene Park, International Program Coordinator and Language Education Center of the Kumoh Institute.
dr. Agustin also explained the latest Merdeka Belajar program from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture as a potential bridge for collaboration. “We encourage our students to study abroad as we have more than 2,000 exchange and career development programs. I think this is a very interesting opportunity and a bright prospect for our cooperation,” said dr. Agustin.
