Universitas Indonesia (UI) received a visit from Sriwijaya University (Unsri) of South Sumatra, on Friday (21/7) at the University Administration Center Building (PAU) UI. This visit was part of a comparative study related to the implementation of programs to prevent and deal with sexual violence on campus. During the visit, the Chairperson of the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Satgas PPKS) UI, Prof. Manneke Budiman, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., welcomed the delegation from the PPKS Task Force and the Unsri Healthy Campus Team chaired by Fatmalina Febry, S.K.M., M.Si.
In the meeting, Prof. Manneke hoped that this activity can become a forum for collaboration between universities in sharing views and situations in the field regarding the prevention of sexual violence. With discussions between task forces, Prof. Manneke added that this activity could mutually enrich and strengthen the task forces at each campus.
In practice, they discussed a lot about the prevention and handling processes that have been carried out by each task force so far, to the tasks and functions that have been carried out. “Currently, UI already has a sexual violence prevention response service called Hope Helps UI. With Hope Helps UI, it is hoped that it will be able to overcome the problem of sexual violence in the campus environment,” said Prof. Manneke.
The existence of the Hope Helps UI service aims to help reporters and the reportee to get guidance and recovery from cases they have experienced. Prof. Manneke said, counseling that helps in the psychological recovery of the reporter and the reportee will be provided by a professional psychologist.
Besides Hope Helps, Prof. Manneke said that UI also has a UI Campus Safe Code community (KODAKS UI). This community aims to provide awareness training and practical knowledge about assisting reporters. It also aims to create an activator among students and academics as a measure to prevent, handle and assist sexual violence on campus.
The existence of support from various elements of society who have begun to grow awareness of sexual violence in the campus environment is very helpful for the PPKS Task Force to help solve problems that occur in the field. Therefore, it can work optimally and create a healthy campus that is free from all kinds of violence.
