Jurnalis Nurhakim Baharizki, a student of the Tax Administration study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI) has successfully made a brilliant achievement at the 2023 Jakarta Open International Championship. Hakim managed to win several gold medals for the Senior Men Elimination 5000 M and Rellay categories, as well as a silver medal for the 1000 M category. The international roller skating championship was held at the Jakarta International Roller Track Arena (JIRTA), GOR Sunter, North Jakarta, and was attended by 1,308 athletes from India, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
To achieve maximum results, Hakim has been doing intensive training every day for the past few months. “The less-than-optimal performance is an evaluation for me to pay attention to being alert during training and competing to avoid injury,” said Hakim. Another challenge is that Hakim, a student, needs to manage his time between training and studying. He also experienced burnout due to fatigue. “In addition to the increasingly busy lecture schedule, I need to maintain my health and performance as an athlete,” said Hakim.
Thanks to his persistence, throughout 2023, Hakim has won various medals, including 1st Place 1000 M, 1st Place Team Sprint 500 M+D, and 3rd Place Dobbin Sprint 200 M at the 2023 Friendly Match; as well as 1st Place 200 M DTT, 1st Place Rellay, and 2nd Place 1000 M at Pre-PON. Hakim also participated in international championships, namely 2nd Place Rellay at the Taiwan International Roller Skating Open.
The director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D., appreciated Hakim’s efforts which brought honor to UI’s name in the competition held on December 21-23, 2023. He said, “Congratulations to Hakim who managed to win gold and silver medals at the international championship. I look forward to other brilliant achievements, both from Hakim and other UI Vocational students, in academic and non-academic fields.”
Currently, Hakim is preparing to take part in the Try Out match in Germany with the DKI Jakarta Team in April. In addition, Hakim will also take part in the 2024 PON XXI Aceh-Sumut. He is targeting five gold medals at the 2024 PON XXI with thorough preparation and intensive training to face the prestigious sporting event.
