Claudia Sesa and Davina Aurelia, students of the Multimedia Broadcasting Study Program at Universitas Indonesia (UI) Vocational Education Program, won 1st place in the Creative Design Challenge (CDC) Indonesia 2024. This national-level competition took place from June to August 2024 involving twenty teams from various universities throughout Indonesia.
With the concept of “Animalium Cibinong in a Nut Shell,” Claudia and Davina produced a motion design video that highlights key information about Animalium, an animal science center owned by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Animalium, which features 120 species of Indonesian fauna, was successfully packaged in an informative and interesting video format.
Claudia explained, “The use of image assets was edited with images of animals in Animalium, then edited in Adobe After Effect. Meanwhile, the color selection tends to be green because it is related to the forest and matches the animals in Animalium, as well as other color elements as complements.”
According to her, “One of the courses that really helped us in executing the video was Creative Thinking. From there we learned that the content that is currently circulating is not only about visuals, but also storytelling. Both must be balanced, so another important point that needs to be considered is scriptwriting. Then, the Graphic Design Application course also helps us in pouring our ideas into creative work.”
This competition requires participants to create a 40 to 60-second video using motion graphics, videography, animation, or stop-motion techniques. Claudia and Davina successfully passed two stages of the competition, from the online stage to the onsite stage with very limited editing time.
Deputy Director for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Deni Danial Kesa, Ph.D, emphasized that this achievement is the result of implementing learning that has a positive impact. “UI Vocational continues to support positive student activities and encourages them to produce creative works that have an impact. We look forward to more creative works from UI Vocational students,” he said.
As part of the prize, Claudia and Davina will also visit Adobe Office in Singapore, marking a significant achievement in their academic and professional journey.
