Numbers of Universitas Indonesia (UI) Teams successfully got achievement on two worldwide competition, Dutch Solar Challenge 2016 in Netherlands and International Roboboat Competition 2016 in The United States.
Solar Boat Team (SBT) UI got second place in Asia and 15 th place in the World on the competition that was held in Internasional Dutch Solar Challenge 2016. Meanwhile, Autonomous Marine Vehicle Team (AMV) got into the big 5 on International Roboboat Competition 2016 .
Dutch Solar Challenge is an worldwide competition on solar power boat. The competition was held in 7 days in 7 cities in Netherlands on June 30 th to July 9 th 2016. The competition was participated by 35 teams from 14 countries and competed in 4 level, that were A class (single-helmsman boat), B class (double-passenger boat), V class (vripack's special design boat), Top class (high tech and high speed boat). UI teams competed in A class with their innovation boat, Si Jagur.
Si Jagur is a boat that use solar power as motor. The uniqueness of this boat is on its design that use trimaran concept or boat with three hull that are connected in order to make the boat more stable, has good maneuver, smaller the wet area and faster.
Meanwhile, International Roboboat Competition is a worldwide boat robot competition that was held by Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Foundation. AUVSI Foudantion is a world association that focus on developing unmanned vehicle on land, air or water.
This year, this competition was held on July 4 th to 6 th 2016 and participated by several reputable universities from various countries, such as University of Michigan, and United States Naval Academy (USNA).
There were two types of judging, that are static judging that is based on presentation, journal, social media and video team. The second one is the boat robot ability in basic missions, that are navigation, obstacle avoidance, pinger location, docking and interoperability challenge.
In this event, AMV UI team successfully got into big 5 final stage on advanced unmanned vehicle competition with MAKARA-05 and MAKARA-06 robot. Makara 05 and Makara 06 is the first unmanned vehicle with hybrid concept, that are ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) and AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). Both of them completing the unmanned vehicle ability to sail and dive.
Those function could support sea observation since AMV team put camera feature that able to capture object and color of under water.
