UI Tennis Club (CTUI) Goes To Singapore and Malaysia

Universitas Indonesia Tennis Club (CTUI) conducted a visit and the International Friendly Tennis Games on August 1–5, 2024, with UI partners in Singapore and Malaysia. The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI), the Indonesian Diaspora in Singapore, and the University of Malaya (UM) were the partners visited by CTUI. This activity was carried out in conjunction with the Alumni Gathering and Benchmarking Endowment Fund and Career Alumni at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore by the Directorate of Graduate Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) UI.

It began with a visit by CTUI and DPKHA UI to the Indonesian Embassy which was received by the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryopratomo. He welcomed the CTUI and DPKHA UI delegations who were present. According to him, this is a step taken by UI in an effort to network with alumni in Singapore. “We are very open if UI wants to invite world figures in Singapore to convey their ideas and thoughts in state forums organized by UI,” said Suryopratomo. He also hopes that UI can continue to advance and develop so that it can achieve its best ranking in Asia and the world.

In addition, in the same place, the delegates also held a UI alumni gathering. This activity is intended to invite UI alumni to further improve their role in advancing UI’s reputation at the international level. The Head of ILUNI UI Singapore Chapter, S. Hany Wijaya, one of the UI alumni who also attended the gathering said that the competence and reputation of UI alumni in Singapore are very likely to continue to be improved. “That way, the contribution of UI alumni can be maximally used for UI’s progress in the future,” he said.

The UI DPKHA delegation also conducted benchmarking of endowment funds and alumni careers to NUS and NTU. The DPKHA delegates discussed with the leadership ranks at NUS and NTU to get an idea of ​​how the two leading universities in Singapore can improve their international reputation. “The contribution of alumni in every educational institution has an important role in supporting the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, therefore this benchmarking is carried out,” said Ir. Ahmad Syafiq, M.Sc., Ph.D, Director of DPKHA UI.

The Chairman of CTUI, Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng, said that the collaboration of academic and non-academic activities during the visit to Singapore and Malaysia carried the theme “Integrating Network for Achieving Excellent Work.” This theme has the meaning of the need to unite UI partners abroad to improve UI’s international reputation. “This also shows the role of CTUI which is involved in strengthening internal and external synergy and making UI a university with a high reputation in Asia and the world,” said Dr. Rakhmatullah.

During the visit to Singapore and Malaysia, the delegates, totaling 53 people and coming from various elements at UI, carried out the International Tennis Friendly Games with I-FIT (Indonesian Fun in Tennis)/ KBRI Singapore and also with the University of Malaya (UM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. These two activities are a sporting event to bring together the two countries, especially in the sport of tennis, which is a medium for establishing cooperation for both parties.
