Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a visit from more than 100 students of SMA Islam As-Shofa, Pekanbaru, Riau, and several accompanying teachers at Balai Sidang, UI, on October 4. This visit aims to introduce students to higher education and build motivation and academic insight related to various study programs available at UI.
The UI Public Relations and KIP Bureau, represented by students, explained the history, facilities, education costs, and UI education programs. Students were given an in-depth explanation of UI’s entry routes, including the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT), achievement routes, and various study programs spread across 14 Faculties and Vocational Education Programs that they can choose in the future.
After the presentation session ended, it was continued with an interactive question-and-answer session. On this occasion, students could have a direct dialogue with UI students to get a real picture of college life. They could ask various questions related to campus life and tips and strategies for being accepted at UI. This visit received high enthusiasm from students, who are excited to explore further information about UI.
Director of Education of SMA Islam As-Shofa, Rahma Maidianti, M.Si., emphasized the importance of visits like this in helping students prepare themselves for the world of higher education. “This is an annual activity called Kunjungan Wawasan Perguruan Tinggi (College Insight Visit). We hope that this activity can open the horizons of grade 12 students regarding the choice of colleges they will take. Through this visit, students can better understand their potential and be motivated to determine the right choice of study,” said Rahma.
This activity ended with the handover of a plaque from SMA Islam As-Shofa to UI as a form of appreciation for the warm welcome and valuable opportunity given to students to explore deeper information. UI hopes that visits like this can continue in the future as an educational medium that bridges the younger generation with higher education. Thus, students from various regions in Indonesia can have broader insights and motivation in determining the educational path they will take in the future.
